A Hanyar Mosquera own goal proved to be the equalizer in Monday's 1-1 draw between the Portland Timbers and San Jose Earthquakes in MLS pre-season action at Jeld-Wen Field in Portland.
Both Western Conference sides trotted out strong starting lineups in a tightly-contested match. Diego Chara and Kalif Alhassan combined on the match's opening goal, finished by Alhassan off a short corner, but the Timbers surrendered their first pre-season goal in 369 minutes when Mosquera re-directed a Chris Wondolowski cross into his own net in the 59th minute.
San Jose will return to action on Thursday with a friendly against Swedish club AIK at Jeld-Wen Field, with Portland returning to action against Chivas USA on Thursday.
