There was a time during a tumultuous summer for the New England Revolution when it appeared that Shalrie Joseph was as good as gone when the MLS offseason rolled around.
The Revolution captain isn't going anywhere, though, after the club re-signed him and made him a Designated Player. The club alluded to the signing at its new uniform unveiling on Saturday night before officially announcing the transaction on Monday.
A seven-time MLS All-Star and four-time Best XI honoree, Joseph has long been the heart and soul of the Revs. He has played with the club for his entire MLS career since it began in 2003, and he is tied with new Revs coach Jay Heaps for all-time appearances with the team (243).
Despite vocalizing his frustration with the club's performance last season, Joseph tied a career high with eight goals and will continue to be the anchor of the team's midfield for the foreseeable future.
