Former U.S. men's national team head coach Bob Bradley made his managerial debut for Egypt on Monday, and the result was not a good one.
Brazil spoiled Bradley's first game in charge of the Pharoahs, winning 2-0 in a friendly played in Doha, Qatar. Jonas Oliveira scored in each half of a game that Bradley considered a useful experience despite Egypt's lackluster performance against a Brazil side missing most of its top players.
Along with marking Bradley's debut, the friendly saw Egypt's Ahmed Hassan tie the world record for most international appearances. Hassan's second-half cameo gave him 178 caps in his career, tying him with former Saudia Arabia goalkeeper Mohammad Al Deayea.
Bradley and Egypt are scheduled to play Brazil again in another friendly in February.

GAVEN SIGNS EXTENSION WITH COLUMBUS
Eddie Gaven will be staying with the Columbus Crew for the foreseeable future. Gaven signed a multi-year contract extension with the Crew on Monday, just weeks after his ninth season as a pro came to an end.
The 25-year-old Gaven scored five goals and had an assist during the 2011 regular season.
OWEN RULED OUT SIX WEEKS
Manchester United forward Michael Owen will miss the next six weeks as he recovers from a thigh injury.
Owen picked up the knock earlier this month when United defeated Otelul Galati, 2-0, in a Champions League match. The timetable of Owen's recovery means he will not be in uniform when United faces Crystal Palace in a Carling Cup quarterfinal match on Nov. 30.
