The United States-France friendly is sure to capture the attention of American soccer viewers, but it's a big day around the soccer world as a whole, with 2012 European championship playoffs, World Cup qualifiers and other friendlies taking center stage.
Some of the more intriguing matchups of the day include the first leg of the Turkey-Croatia Euro playoff series, the Uruguay-Chile South American World Cup qualifier and the Mexico-Serbia nightcap. MLS fans will want to keep an eye on the Estonia-Republic of Ireland Euro playoff, which could feature New York Red Bulls midfielder Joel Lindpere and Los Angeles Galaxy forward Robbie Keane.
There are a number of college soccer matches of great importance as well. The conference tournaments are winding down, and the semifinals for perhaps the top two conferences in the country -- the Big East and Atlantic Coast Conference -- are slated for Friday evening.
