There's a new team at the top of the college soccer mountain yet again.
High-scoring Maryland is the new No. 1 team in the Fox Soccer/SBI NCAA Top 25 rankings after improving to 6-0 while former No. 1 North Carolina slipped up last weekend against Virginia Tech. UNC held onto the top spot for one week after wrestling the crown away from Louisville in the previous week and is down two spots to No. 3.
UConn is ready and waiting to take over the top spot should Maryland fall in its next two games against North Carolina State and Seton Hall. The second-ranked Huskies are 5-0 after shutout wins over Tulsa and SMU in the Hurricane Classic and are in prime position to pounce should the Terps drop a result like their previous two No. 1 predecessors.
Elsewhere in the rankings, the Big Ten enjoyed a nice week during which Indiana, Penn State and Ohio State all climbed at least two spots; UCLA stabilized after a rough start and is back up to No. 11; and South Florida, West Virginia and Virginia all took a bit of a tumble after losses.
