The Italian Serie A strike might put a damper on the number of soccer viewing options, but the English Premier League and MLS are offering up some quality tilts featuring some of the top teams in each league.
The selection of quality games is a diverse one this week, with France, Germany and Mexico also offering up games worth seeing.
So just which marquee match-ups should you be watching this weekend? Here are SBI's suggestions for Top Ten Matches To Watch:
1. Manchester United vs. Arsenal (Sunday, 11am, FSC). The Red Devils are off to a hot start and will be heavily favored against an Arsenal side still coping with the losses of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. That won't stop this from being a fast-paced and entertaining match.
2. Tottenham vs. Manchester City (Sunday, 8:30am, FSC). Emmanuel Adebayor is on his way to Tottenham, but while he probably won't feature in this match-up, it's an important game for Spurs, which is still searching for their first point of the season.
3. Seattle Sounders vs. Columbus Crew (Saturday, 4pm, Direct Kick). The best team in the East faces the second-best team in MLS in the Game of the Week in the USA.
4. Lille vs. Marseille (Sunday, 3pm, Fox Soccer Plus). The reigning French champions take on a strong Marseille side in a match-up that will have Arsene Wenger drooling at all the transfer possibilities.
5. Sporting Kansas City vs. FC Dallas (Saturday, 8:30pm, Direct Kick). Sporting KC is one of the hottest teams in MLS and will take on a tired Dallas team that still boasts some of the best talent in the league.
6. Bayer Leverkusen vs. Borussia Dortmund (Saturday, 12;30pm, ESPN3.com). The top two teams in Germany last year face off in a early-season tone setter in the Bundesliga.
8. Pachuca vs. America (Saturday, 8pm, Telefutura). U.S. national team call-ups Jose Torres and Edgar Castillo should see action in this match-up of perennial Mexican powers.
9. Pumas UNAM vs. Cruz Azul (Sunday, 1pm, Telemundo). Two of the top three teams in Mexico face off with a chance of moving closer to first place on the line. Pumas is in a bit of a slump while Cruz Azul boasts an entertaining attack.
10. Chivas USA vs. Real Salt Lake (Saturday, 10:30pm, Fox Soccer Channel). The last time these teams met, RSL playmaker Javier Morales suffered a broken ankle. Revenge won't be the focus though. Both teams are desperate for a win as Chivas USA chases a playoff spot and RSL looks to halt a 1-4 slump.
