The NFL and NBA might not be the only leagues threatened to have play postponed this summer.
Fans of Leo Messi, Real Madrid and Spanish soccer in general may soon be disappointed after the Spanish soccer players' union has threatened to postpone the upcoming La Liga season if an agreement over wages cannot be made in time.
Luis Manuel Robles, president of the players' union, is currently in dispute with the league over a fund to protect player's wages should their clubs ever go bankrupt. Rubiales also set Aug. 8 as the date that a 'minimum agreement' must be reached.
The La Liga season is scheduled to start on Aug. 21.

SANTOS AGAIN CLAIM NEYMAR WILL STAY PUT
The Neymar saga continued on Thursday, with Santos president Luis Alvaro De Oliveira claiming that his star striker will not be sold until next year, at the earliest. While De Oliveira has admitted to holding talks with Barcelona and Real Madrid over the 19-year-old player, he also thinks Neymar will be with the club in December as it participates in the Club World Cup. Neymar's current deal with the club runs through the summer of 2014.
FORMER JAPAN INTERNATIONAL MATSUDA DIES
Naoki Matsuda, a former Japan international, has died two days after collapsing with a heart attack during a practice session. Matsuda fell into a coma after warm-ups on Tuesday, and was taken to the hospital to be put on life support. The 34-year-old right back had appeared 40 times for his country, including all four games in the Blue Samurai's run to the Round of 16 in the 2002 World Cup.
QUEENS PARK RANGERS SIGNS CAMPBELL
Queens Park Rangers has acquired forward DJ Campbell from Blackpool. The 29-year-old joins Queens Park Rangers after a number of clubs showed interest in him this summer, including West Ham United. Campbell scored 13 league goals for Blackpool last season.
