International soccer picks up where European club soccer left off, as friendlies, European Championship qualifiers and the start of the CONCACAF Gold Cup dominate the weekend schedule.
The obvious draw for United States soccer fans is the national team's friendly with world-champion Spain. The other high-profile friendly of the weekend involves two of the world's top teams in a rematch of a World Cup quarterfinal, as Brazil hosts the Netherlands.
Group A play in the Gold Cup gets underway as well, as Costa Rica meets Cuba and Mexico plays El Salvador in the opening matches of the tournament.
MLS is also in full force, with Colorado-Philadelphia and San Jose-Houston being two of the more intriguing matches on the schedule.
