If the Portland Timbers are to return their winning ways in their upcoming matches, they'll have to do so without centerback Futty Danso.
The Gambian defender has been ruled out for the next 2-to-4 weeks after injuring his shoulder in Saturday's loss to the Colorado Rapids.
Danso was hurt in the 23rd minute of the match when going for a header against Rapids forward Caleb Folan, and an MRI revealed that he escaped serious injury but will still need a spell on the sidelines. David Horst figures to see an increase in minutes while Danso is out.
Here are a couple of more notes from around MLS:
The Rodrigo Brasesco era at D.C. United is over after the club waived the Uruguayan defender on Tuesday.
Expected to add depth to United's back line, Brasesco struggled in limited playing time since joining the club on loan from Uruguay's Racing Club. He made three league appearances and started in two of those games, but he ultimately fell behind rookies Ethan White and Chris Korb on D.C.'s depth chart.
Even with injuries to defenders Marc Burch, Dejan Jakovic and Devon McTavish, D.C. found Brasesco to be expendable.
ROCASTLE OUT WITH KNEE INJURY
Sporting Kansas City midfielder Craig Rocastle was injured in Grenada's opening game of the Gold Cup against Jamaica, and the severity of the injury is now known.
Rocastle, on the wrong end of a challenge in Grenada's 4-0 loss to the Reggae Boyz, will be out for up to the next two months with a torn PCL and meniscus in his right knee.

How do you see Portland faring without Danso? Disappointed that Brasesco couldn't offer more to D.C.? How do you see SKC's midfield shaping up without Rocastle in the mix?
