Teal Bunbury's dislocated elbow will cost him the next 4-6 weeks, according to Sporting Kansas City's official Twitter feed.
Bunbury met with team physicians on Friday and was re-evaluated after his initial hospital visit, which yielded a recovery timetable of 2-4 weeks. The latest evaluation added two weeks onto his recovery time.
In the best-case scenario, Bunbury could be ready to return for Sporting KC's season-opener on March 19 against Chivas USA. Should Bunbury miss six weeks, he could return in time for Sporting KC's third match of the season, an April 2 contest at Vancouver.
The match against the Whitecaps is followed by a bye week, so if Bunbury's rehabilitation takes longer or the team chooses to be extra cautious, his season debut could be April 16 at Columbus.

Ryan Giggs isn't going anywhere.
The 37-year old midfielder has signed on for another year at Manchester United, which will be his 21st with the club. Giggs has made more than 850 appearances since his time with the club began in 1991, and he'll add handfuls more through the rest of this season and all of next season.
"It is great to know I'm contributing to the team's success. I feel I've still got a lot to offer," Giggs told the BBC.
BOLTON LOSES TWO DEFENDERS
Bolton suffered a blow to its defensive corps, as Samuel Ricketts ruptured his Achilles' tendon and Zat Knight has ligament damage in his knee. Ricketts' injury is expected to sideline him for at least six months, while Knight is expected to be on the shelf for the next six weeks.
Ricketts suffered his injury in Bolton's FA Cup victory over Wigan on Wednesday, and Knight hurt his knee in last weekend's Premier League victory over Everton.
CUELLAR OUT FOUR WEEKS
Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar will miss up to the next month after tests revealed a torn hamstring. On the plus side for the Villans, right back Luke Young is set to return from his long injury spell, with the Feb. 26 match against Blackburn being manager Gerard Houllier's target date.
