U.S. Under-20 national team striker Bobby Wood was one of the standouts of the recent U-20 camp, and his stellar form has helped earn him a place on the 1860 Munich first team.
Wood joins the first team just a week after 1860 Munich parted ways with another American striker, Kenny Cooper, who has signed with the Portland Timbers.
Wood will be in uniform, and could make his first-team debut, in 1860 Munich's match against VfL Osnabruck on Friday.
Wood has established himself as one of the top forward options in Thomas Rongen's Under-20 national team pool and is in position to start for the U-20s when CONCACAF Under-20 World Cup qualifying begins in April.
If you are unfamiliar with Wood's story, here is a good rundown of Wood's story.
What do you think of this development? Excited to see Wood play? Hoping he fares better than other Americans who have passed through 1860 Munich?
