The 2011 MLS Draft will kick off in less than a week and one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft is U.S. Under-20 striker Omar Salgado.
The 17-year-old El Paso native has made a rapid rise from relatively unknown prospect in the Chivas Guadalajara youth system to one of the most promising players in the U.S. national team youth set-up.
Salgado won't be taking part in the MLS Combine because he will be in U.S. Under-20 camp (as the youngest player in camp). Scouts rate Salgado highly, with his size (6-foot-2) and impressive ball skills making him a likely mid-first round draft pick.
If you are unfamiliar with Salgado's story, here is my feature on him for Fox Soccer. Be sure to give it a read.
What do you think of Salgado's story? Eager to see him play for the United States? Hoping your team takes him in the draft?
