Landon Donovan's second-half penalty kick proved to be the difference as the Los Angeles Galaxy edged Chivas USA, 1-0, on Sunday to take the series by a goal.
Mike Magee drew the vital penalty when he ran onto a Donovan pass before being crashed into by Chivas USA defender Yamith Cuesta.
The Galaxy will now face the Houston Dynamo on Friday at Home Depot Center in the Western Conference Final. The Dynamo needed overtime, but eventually eliminated the Seattle Sounders with a 1-0 victory. Brian Ching's beautiful overtime volley sends Houston to its third West Final in four years.
The East Final was set on Saturday night when the Fire defeated New England, 2-0. The Fire will now face Real Salt Lake.
