It wasn't easy, but Clint Dempsey's Fulham managed to grab the win and three points in the first-ever European match at Craven Cottage. Danny Murphy's goal in the 56th launched Fulham to the top of the Group E table and ended their three game losing streak with a 1-0 victory against FC Basel. The Swiss side had numerous chances to equalize but failed to do so. Dempsey played the full 90 minutes.
Tim Howard and Everton enjoyed their trip to Belarus, coming from behind to grab three points of their own on the road. Second half goals from Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini were the difference. Howard played the whole game, making three saves en route to the 2-1 victory over BATE Borisov. That gives them two wins in two games, and first place in Group I.
