The U.S. men's national team struggled through another qualifier it was expected to win, but once again found a way to win despite not playing well. Ricardo Clark's 30-yard blast provided the difference in a 1-0 victory that pushed the Americans into first place in the CONCACAF Qualifying Group.
Mexico's 1-0 win against Honduras, coupled with El Salvador's 1-0 upset of Costa Rica (courtesy of a 90th minute game-winner) mean the United States can clinch a World Cup qualifying place with a win in either of its final two qualifiers, or a draw vs. Costa Rica in its final qualifier on Oct. 14 in Washington D.C.
As if the results themselves weren't enough, Honduras also saw three starters earn yellow cards that will keep them out of the Oct. 10 qualifier vs. the United States. Amado Guevara, Danilo Turcios and Osman Chavez will all miss the USA qualifier in San Pedro Sula.
What did you think of the U.S. team's performance? Relieved at the victory? Disappointed with the team's play? Starting to feel a little better about the team's chances to qualify?
