Bobby Convey's time as a Reading player is officially over, meaning his return to Major League Soccer is a step closer to reality.
Reading FC announced on Friday that Convey has left the club by mutual consent, paving the way for Convey to make the reported move to the San Jose Earthquakes that has been in the works for several weeks.
Convey's departure from the English League Championship club signals a disappointing end to an injury-plagued four and a half seasons at Reading. He had his highlights, including a major role in the club's dream 2005-2006 season, but far more of Convey's tenure at Reading was marred by injuries.
Convey, 25, is now set to return to MLS almost five years after leaving D.C. United. He is expected to serve as a playmaker for the Earthquakes, which head into their second season after returning as an expansion team in 2008.
What do you think of Convey's departure from Reading? Sad to see his time in England end? Do you remember Convey's moments in the English Premier League? Think Convey will make a return to Europe some day? Can he help spark the worst attack in MLS?
