LA Galaxy vs. Chivas USA: Your Running Commentary

Los_angeles_galaxy_logo_2Chivas_usa_logo

The LA Galaxy and Chivas USA are ready to do battle in the latest installment of the "Super Clasico." Can Chivas USA exact some revenge for its 5-2 loss to the Galaxy (the game where Landon Donovan ruffled some Chivas USA feathers)?

There is more than revenge on the line. Both teams are tied for first place in the West, with the winner taking sole possession of the top spot.

If you plan on watching tonight's match, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

Enjoy the match.

What's the over under on flares and smoke bombs on the pitch tonight?

Well, I have to say I'm disappointed to have seen WNBA action pre-empting pregame for a fairly big game, but at the same time, have nothing really wrong with watching less pregame.

End of a WNBA blowout or MLS pregame. As much as I love the game, I have no reason to watch either.

Either way, looking for big games out of Donovan and Klejstan, but don't really have a dog in the fight as far as favored team, so I'm just looking for a good show.

I like pregames. Makes it seem like the event is important.

Why does the field at Home Depot Center look like a patchwork of green garbage?

Nice shot...

Chivas. !Que golazo!

Uh-oh. Beautiful strike from Club Deportivo LA.

The Jewel is gonna have to step it up.

WHat is up with that field? Must have had some kind of other event there earlier this week. That looks terrible. Too bad for a big game on national TV.

Apparently the field is being renovated one area at a time. If I remember correctly, it was done a little around the middle for the home leg against Barbados.

Dive. Shouldn't have been a card.

Uh oh, LA free kick...

Why the F is Tom Cruise wearing sunglasses?!?!?!?!?!?!

Tom Cruise needs sun glasses as mandated by scientology to protect him from surpressive persons.

Does anyone else hear nails on a chalkboard when the announcers say "darby"?

It's not a bad game, actually. Everyone is pretty intense, so the announcers really not need to repeat that it's a "Classico" 100 times.

Chivas should win this game. Overall, their team level of play is better than the Galaxy's and they move the ball very nicely and with speed through the middle and into the attack.

wow. what a sequence. the top 3 offensive Galaxy players all had a touch.
and now preki's ogne. he must've said something about LD's celebration.

The Gals play has improved dramatically since they moved Beckham back to the right.

I believe when Ruiz came in, Donovan moved back to CAM, and Beckham moved right. That move's got Donovan more involved in the match and made Beckham harder to close by clogging up the middle.

Anyway, completely entertaining game out here on the Left Coast. Love Tom Cruise's shades.

Loved the darby.

hopefully next week we can see a buddle-ruiz pairing up top with Landon in the midfield and Beckham on the right flank. the formation seemed to work well in the second half when ruiz came on.

Edson buddle continues his scoring streak. Guzan played pretty, that last chance from Ruiz had me thinking he would bury it, but Guzan makes the most unexpected save. Donovan disappeared for very long spells at a time, a cruel flashback of WC 2006. Randolph recieves my hussle man of the match helping to slow down kjlestan on the right side of chivas. Razov is in form and thats dangerous. scored today wasnt as last second as against san jose but i think that works fine. Beckham also hussled alot. in fact i think he was all over the place. however it wasnt his best game. Mendoza good effort all around great services and passes, thought he had a game winner but the ball was called out. Kljestan with some good passes including the assist nearly had a game winner of the post. all around i was entertained.

Guzan certainly sounded like a guy who is leaving MLS.

That was an overly physical game.

Best MLS match I've seen this year, even though Landycakes did a disappearing act ...

Oh, and speaking of Tom Cruise ... did Giuseppe Franco loan him that rug?

"Best MLS match I've seen this year, even though Landycakes did a disappearing act ..."

Huh? You should probably watch more MLS games. On another note, what happened to the HDC being the premiere soccer stadium in the country? That pitch was a joke!

I've seen plenty of MLS games over the past 10 years and that was a very exciting one. Hell, I even had my non-soccer fan friend screaming at the TV during the game. That was a awesome first.

I am proud to say that I am a girl who loves to play soccer like a man. All my friends talk about shopping and I talk about the chivas game that I watched that night. I would be sitting in the family room watching a game and then I would start yelling at the t.v. next thing I know my mom tells me to go in the other room.I would really like to go far with soccer, but my mom said I wont. Any advice?
