McCabe: Guevara deal not done yet, but could be done today

Amado_guevara_mlsnetcom

Amado Guevara's deal to return to Major League Soccer and play for Toronto FC hasn't been finalized yet, but could be done in time for him to make his MLS return on Saturday.

"We hope to have it finalized on Tuesday and have Amado playing in MLS at the weekend," said Patrick McCabe, Guevara's U.S.-based agent. McCabe was quick to caution that the deal was not completed, contrary to reports which surfaced from Honduras over the weekend.

If MLS and Guevara finalize a deal this week, Guevara could be on the field for Toronto FC against the Los Angeles Galaxy at Home Depot Center on Sunday.

Itd be nice to have this sorted so we can get him to gel with the rest of the team

Guevara's the next big step for TFC towards play off contention.

That, or not last place. Oh lord, anything but last place.

"...so we can get him to gel with the rest of the team"

Good Luck with that.

Doesn't Chivas still hold his rights, therefore require compensation for Guevara joining another team?

Won't he and Robert play the same position, attacking mid? I suppose one can be pushed out wide or up top, but it seems they need more help in D than elsewhere.
Still, they may up looking like LA. Lots of goals on both sides.

Mike, Chivas waived Guevara's rights after putting him in the expansion draft pool and Guevara's contract expired after the 2007 season. At best, Chivas may have a right of first refusal to sign him but don't have the cap room or interest to bring him back.

Robert naturally plays Left wing, just played AM last game cuz we need him there.

Doesn't Guevara still have to sit out a match for the red card he got last season with Chivas before he went AWOL? Or does MLS consider his time with the Honduran league punishment enough?

It's strange that Toronto would still want Guevara considering that he bailed on his trade (in exchange for Nagamura and a draft pick) there last season.

CD's comment said it all.

Enjoy the Head case that is Guevara Toronto!! :D

CD and inkedAG,

Enjoy when TFC plays you next and Guevara blasts a cannon of a goal on you! and you lose a heartbreaker of a game by 1 goal!!

LOL!! I can't wait for my dreams to come true!
