Bosnia and Herzegovina’s performance at the World Cup was impressive, even though it will be leaving Brazil with only three points from three matches. The team’s performance showed how far the country has come since its first FIFA international match in 1995, thanks in part to players like Miralem Pjanic.

Pjanic is one of Bosnia’s big stars for both club and country. After an excellent season at Roma, Pjanic capped the World Cup by bagging a goal and an assist in Bosnia’s 3-1 victory over Iran on Wednesday night, earning the SBI Man of the Match award.

The 24-year-old midfielder assisted on the first goal of the game, finding Edin Dzeko on the run in the midfield. Bosnia’s leading scorer finished with a wonderful goal to give them a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Pjanic extended the lead for Bosnia, getting on the end of a pass from Tino-Sven Susic. He put a wonderful shot past Iran’s Alireza Haghighi, slotting the ball to the far post.

Pjanic wins the Man of the Match award over Dzeko and Susic.
