MLS expansion is moving along full steam ahead, but plans for the stadiums for these new teams aren’t coming along quite as smoothly.

In Episode 136 of The SBI Show, we discuss issues with Orlando City’s stadium project, as well as the latest developments surrounding David Beckham’s push for a stadium in Miami for his MLS expansion team.

Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I also discuss Jurgen Klinsmann’s decision to bring 30 players to the pre-World Cup training camp in Stanford, and what probably led to that decision. We also preview MLS week nine.

Give Episode 136 of The SBI Show a listen after the jump:

What did you think the show? Think the MLS expansion cities will land their stadiums? Who do you see winning the big MLS week nine matches?

    What intro beat was that?

  2. Tim Riggins says:

My 23 for Brazil. What I like about these players is in a pinch many of them are interchangeable–so Dempsey can become a forward, bedoya or zusi can move central, Cameron can move up to d. Mid, Fabian johnson can move up to the wing and Johannsson can move down to the wing, we could play a 5 man midfield with a lone striker or a standard 4-4-2 (which I know is super comfortable for our guys). I like the idea of bedoya on the L wing because he can check in and shoot on his right and will be a workhorse to cover defensively where many talented right footed opponents will be looking to exploit.

I know brooks is young to start but I can’t resolve our center D situation–Gonzalez makes me nervous these days and I just don’t rate onyewu anymore, to me he’s just a bit to beat up to contribute for club AND country, kinda like Ledley king. And honestly, why not put Brooks in there? Some will say he’s untested, but starting in the Bundesliga is as good a vetting process as there is and for my money, he has the best form right now of any American centerB.

Dempsey’s n there twice because I dunno where he fits in better.

    • Tim Riggins says:

Obviously there’s a formatting error and Williams should be under Beckerman

    • Increase says:

I would have Rimando 2nd too. Hard to tell with keepers but I like the guy.

      • James says:

I’m a big Rimando fan, but for me there’s no doubt I’d go with Guzan as #2. Rimando may be a bit quicker, but Guzan is so good at clearing crosses and shot stopping. No doubt Tim is #1, but I think the gap between him and Guzan is smaller than between Guzan and Rimando

        • whoop-whoop says:

Such a luxury we have at keeper. I’d go with the standard: Howard, Guzan, Rimando but….. absolutely love Rimando’s game and honestly, feel no less confident with him in goal than I do Howard. Wish we had that kind of quality depth elsewhere.

        • Increase says:

It really is hard to tell isn’t it. Rimando just looks flashier. I really don’t worry if anyone gets hurt. All 3 are capable of standing on their heads and winning a game alone.

  3. Increase says:

I bet Garrett was one of those college students(frequently intoxicated) down on the Peninsula in the summer. Fond memories of Newport eh?

    • Carlos says:

Increase, Garrett is only 22 years old I believe. How much longer do you think he will be the co-host of the SBI podcast?

      • Increase says:

Man, I don’t stalk the guy. I thought he was older. He’s all reminiscing about the Bahamas and his lost wayward youth. That’s old man talk!

  4. MisterJC says:

    Thanks for the show, folks…
