After Mexico’s midweek victory against South Korea, everyone’s attention is now quickly shifting back to the Liga MX as Round Five brings two of the biggest games of the season.
On Saturday evening all eyes will be on the Estadio Tecnologico in Monterrey, as Tigres UANL travel to local rivals Rayados for the 102nd Clasico Regiomontano. The two sides have failed to live up to expectations so far this season and will be keen to use the derby as a way to kick-start their seasons.
Tigres are still winless, but Alan Pulido’s historic debut hat-trick for the national team on Wednesday should give the whole club a much needed lift. Monterrey have been erratic, following up a strong home performance against Queretaro in Round Three with a disappointing defeat at Toluca last time out.
The other standout game sees two of the remaining three unbeaten sides go head-to-head, as league leaders Cruz Azul travel to Chivas de Guadalajara. The game sees Marco Fabian return to the Omnilife Stadium as an opposition player for the first time, and he will want to continue his fine start with the Cementeros by coming away with a victory.
Elsewhere, Club Tijuana travel to Pumas UNAM, Club America host the resurgent Atlante, and reigning champions Club Leon go to Morelia.
