For the first time since the 10-match ban was handed to him by the FA last April, Luis Suarez will suit up in a competitive match for Liverpool.

The Reds have been handed a difficult tie in the Capital One Cup, with a visit to Manchester United on tap on Wednesday, though Man United have plenty of problems of their own. The two teams who have plenty of history between the two now has an added story line to watch, with the return of Suarez.

Also in action on Wednesday, Arsenal visit West Bromwich Albion in the League Cup, Bayern Munich host Hannover 96 in the German Cup, and a busy day of fixtures between Spain and Italy sees Real Madrid host Elche in La Liga and Sampdoria visit first-place AS Roma.

In the evening, first the Houston Dynamo host W Connection and then the Los Angeles Galaxy take on Cartagines in CONCACAF Champions League action.

If you will be watching today’s action, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

His name is Suarez he wears the famous red
    I just can’t get enough
    I just can’t get enough
When he scores a volley or scores with his head
    I just can’t get enough
    I just can’t get enough
He scores a goal and the Kop go wild
And I just can’t seem to get enough
    dududududududuudd
    Luis Suarez

    • Cabrito says:

      I’d rather walk alone.

    • TomG says:

His name is Suarez he likes to bite its said
      He’s just a freaking nut
      He’s just a freaking nut
He chomps on other players like theyre made of freaking bread
      He’s just a freaking nut
      He’s just a freaking nut
He looks like a cross between a rat and squirrel
And he’s just a total freaking nut

  2. Addick says:

Geoff Cameron gets the start for Stoke in their Cup match against Tranmere today. Neither Shea nor Edu make the bench.

  3. Family Guy says:

I got some big money on Liverpool winning. don’t let me down REDsss

  4. GJJ says:

Have any of you seen this in today’s Guardian. Pull the WC from Qatar now! link to theguardian.com

Ives, I’d love to hear your opinion on all of this.

    • SubwayJared says:

It is horrific. At this rate, 10s of thousands of people will be murdered by the time the World Cup rolls around.

FIFA is sanctioning slavery and crimes against humanity.

      • TomG says:

FIFA sanctions extortion and bribery to line their pockets and doesn’t give a cr@p about anything else. They may be the most blatantly corrupt high profile organization in the world.

  5. Francois says:

Bedoya not in the 18? Did he pick up a knock?

  6. Tensnake says:

I think Johannsson scored in his game which is still going on.

  7. SubwayJared says:

This match has so many great narratives! Moyes NEEDS a rebound win. Liverpool has Suarez coming back–and they need a rebound win after losing the top of the Premiership.

A loss for either team will send them into a media firestorm. Should be some great energy.

  8. SubwayJared says:

Looks like Moyes has flipped the script for the team and is putting out a mostly reserve squad. Liverpool have their first team on the pitch.

United are starting Evans, Kagawa, Nani, Buttner, Giggs and Hernandez of note. Rooney with the armband.

    • TomG says:

I’d say more Liverpool that has flipped the script if true. Reserve lineup IS the script for Cap 1 Cup.

      • SubwayJared says:

I fully expected United to come out with a strong lineup given the opponent and what happened on the weekend.

        • TomG says:

I can somewhat see what you’re saying but its not like he’s putting out a bunch of scrubs. Rooney is out there. So are other starters and if you’ve got guys like Kagawa, Giggs, Nani, Jones, Chicharito, etc., you’re going to want to find spots to use them and these midweek matches are the spots. Keep in mind, MU has Champions League, LFC does not, so LFCs starters have more opportunities to rest. It’s a long season. Despite the poor result this weekend, Moyes can’t burn out his starters, ESP when he has excellent reserves.

  9. SubwayJared says:

The guy with the butt name just saved United from going down 1-0.

  10. SubwayJared says:

    Sturridge probably wants that back.

  11. SubwayJared says:

Half time 0-0. Some decent efforts and a blown great chance from Sturridge. Otherwise… sloppy play for everyone!

Game has a Cup feel and look to it no doubt.

  12. Jman says:

    Chich you sneaky little

  13. EvertonBrian says:

Bummed to see Shea not in the 18

    • TomG says:

Unfortunately, I can see him getting completely lost on this side. He has an unconventional playing style with some outsized flaws ans strengths that doesn’t appeal to all managers and Hughes didn’t sign him. I think he’s making a decent salary so maybe he can force a transfer in January to a side that rates him.

  14. Dinho says:

Liverpool is lucky that Nani is a selfish pr*ck

  15. Tensnake says:

Yup it was Aron Johannsson, he has 2 goals today. Here’s the first.

  16. Bird says:

Wow amazing goal for Roma from a CB in the run of play. Pulled down in the box and still scores the goal!

  17. Tensnake says:

Aron Jóhannsson with the hat trick!!!

  18. SBB says:

Just when you think Chicharito is done he comes and wins another game for ManU.

  19. JumpinForJoy says:

Sunderland v Southampton in the next round. Good or Bad?

  20. ManicMessiah says:

Good win for Newcastle over Leeds. And for their troubles they get… oh yeah. Man City. Well, that’s the league cup for this year.

  21. Fredo says:

    I love Jack McBean.
