On the heels of winning a Gold Cup title with the U.S. Men’s National Team, Michael Orozco’s good week continued on Tuesday.

The first thing that the Mexican-American centerback did upon return to Puebla FC was to sign his new contract with the club, one that will permanently keep him at the club. Orozco first joined Puebla last January on a six-month loan deal from San Luis, but Puebla, who also have USMNT defender DaMarcus Beasley on the roster, made the transfer a permanent one this past June.

“I want to succeed here, because you get the benefits of being in the squad and we want to achieve a title that this city deserves,” Orozco said on Puebla’s website.

Orozco arrived at Puebla’s training ground on Tuesday morning, with Beasley coming in for the evening session. The two could be available for Puebla’s next match on Wednesday against Santos Laguna.

At the Gold Cup, the 27-year-old defender featured four times, three times as a starter and once off the bench for the USMNT. Orozco started all three group stage matches against Belize, Cuba, and Costa Rica, but was replace in the starting eleven by Matt Besler in the knockout rounds.

Orozco came up with San Luis in 2006 after moving to Mexico from California. He also spent the 2010 season on-loan with the Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer.

What do you think of this news? Do you see Orozco starting for Puebla? What does this move do for Orozco’s World Cup chances?
