Nick Rimando has gone to U.S. Men’s National Team camp ahead of the the CONCACAF Gold Cup, but before he left he made sure to give Real Salt Lake one more outstanding performance.

The RSL goalkeeper is expected to starter for the U.S. at the Gold Cup, and he heads into the tournament in good form after his strong four-save effort in RSL’s 1-0 victory vs. Toronto FC. The showing earned Rimando a spot on this week’s SBI MLS Best XI for Week 18.

San Jose teammates Alan Gordon and Shea Salinas were vital to the Earthquakes’ comeback victory vs. the Los Angeles Galaxy, and both earned places on the Best XI for their heroics.

The only player on this week’s Best XI from a losing team is Robbie Keane, who was absolutely outstanding in the Galaxy’s 3-2 loss to San Jose. Keane finished with two assists, but could have had five or six as he played the role of playmaker to a tee.

Here is the SBI MLS Best XI for Week 18:

Chance myers should have been honorable mention at least. Thought he was the best player on the field in the skc game although he was left without any stats

    • Josh says:

Having been at that game, I’m not sure I agree. He wasn’t bad, but not exactly great either

    • Daniel says:

Also being at the game I wasn’t overly impressed with Chance. He put in a good shift, but nothing that would have warranted an honorable mention. The best positive of the game for Myers was the most attacks were directed to the left side (through Sinovic).

I remember when Rimando first came to RSL and I was bummed because I thought he was washed up. Boy have I been grateful for his arrival so many times since then.

  3. Chodilicus says:

RSL is in nice form right now. It is great to see some of the guys honored, I know they are not on national TV very often so I understand.

The real test will now be what they can do in the next few weeks without Rimando, Beckerman, Saborio and others for Gold Cup call-ups.
