By DAN KARELL

Liverpool FC released pictures of next season’s away kit on Tuesday, with current players on the squad modeling the uniforms.

The kits are the latest from American company Warrior, who took over the club’s kit deal in 2012 after six years with Adidas. The kit features a white top with black and red diamonds towards the bottom and two red stripes, black shorts with the stripes on the side, and white socks.

The goalkeeper uniform is an all purple kit, with black and white diamonds placed in the front of the top and sides of the shorts and socks.

What do you make of the design? Do you like it? Do you hate it?

  1. Josh D says:

Do those abstract shapes represent their season going up in flames – again?

    • Joe says:

      Thatttsss a niiiiceeee.

    • Rector & Carlisle says:

As if Suarez didn’t have enough reasons to leave for Spain.

Another reason Jamie Carragher is happy he retired.

      • Mike says:

LOL, you are right. These warrior people have no Idea how a football uniform should look!
        Please Adidas SOS

    • The Imperative Voice says:

The 80s/90s return with a vengeance!

It is debatable whether the purple/black/etc. third jersey is even worse.

      • sly says:

No its not. I hated the purple black flames and the wetsuit this is worse. Bus full of burning nuns and orphans. I’m a Liverpool fan and as we have 2 bad kits in a row. Next season the potential hotels scare me.

    • Old School says:

      Did you guys hear that?

It’s a bunch of xenophobic Liverpool fans pausing from burning American flags for whatever reason they choose this week to whine about an American company and the design of their kit.

If there’s one thing that will make them stop whining about the redesigned crest, is it’s the Trapper Keeper-themed kit….and frankly, I don’t blame them for this gripe.

    • V-8 says:

If a buddy of mine showd up wearing this, he’d be walking alone.

    • solles says:

he’s got a fire in his pants! he’s got a fire in his pants!

  2. IgnerAnt says:

I think that pattern would be perfect… if it were on a women’s cocktail dress. Unfortunately, they chose to make it into a craptastically ugly uniform.

  3. kev says:

    it’s horrible. why

Bring back the Carlsberg jersey of the last decade

  4. markwriter says:

hope they look better in motion

    • Mike says:

We are going to be the ridicule of all teams, I think the players are crying fowl for having to wear this ridiculous thing.

  5. Reid says:

wow, def not going to buy that one. Its a good thing the home jersey and keepers jersey are solid, cause this one sucks

  6. Nordy says:

That jersey is 8 bits of terrible.

  7. Nordy says:

If you stare at Stevie G’s belly button long enough, you’ll see a 3D image of Brendan Rodgers holding three envelopes.

  8. Matt says:

That’s one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. Maybe opposing goalies will be blinded by their hideousness and they’ll score a lot.

  9. joel says:

wow that has to be one of the worst i have seen.

  10. PD says:

Does this kit make my hips look big?

The fact that I’m asking this question should tell you how friggin bad this design is…

    • Shane says:

No it makes your waist look thin . . . but either way, it makes you (Steven Gerrard) look like a woman.

  11. Nate Dollars says:

    is this a hoax?

    • Nate Dollars says:

also, i can’t view the source image, but it seems like gerrard’s hands are positioned kind of awkwardly, right? like maybe he’s pointing at his knees for some reason?

      • Old School says:

You bring up a really good point. Why are his wrists in a “durrrr” position?

    • Gnarls says:

We all saw Barca’s away jersey this past season. The bar has been set lower than low. There’s something amiss with jersey designers…

  12. David says:

As we all bash this dreadful kit remember that someone got paid to design it and then even more depressing is a lot of people who are paid a lot more than that designer approved…

  13. Bean says:

Gerrard’s expression really sums up my thoughts on this strip.

    The home strip looks great.

  14. Sam T says:

This is a magnificent comment thread

  15. Thebumswillalwayslose says:

Does the black and red diamond pattern hold some kind of significance for the club? Is it supposed to represent something? I’m just searching for something that would make some kind of sense as to why this direction was taken. Because to be honest with you, this looks like a bad circa ’94 World Cup era kit.

  16. T$ says:

Cool lacrosse shorts! – said no one ever

  17. Paddy Megroyn says:

This makes me want to bite someone.

  18. Dinho says:

And, the third kit is almost as bad….

  19. Travis says:

The early 90s called and they want their patterned jersey back

  20. Gnarls says:

    1993 called…

    • Citronomics says:

Maybe the Liverpool pr team will issue a release headlined “all apologies”.

  21. Dan M says:

If you stare at Gerrard’s midsection long enough, you can see a stealth figher, or maybe a tyrannosaurus rex, I am not really sure.

  22. Mike Caramba says:

I don’t think I’ve ever read a positive reaction to a new uniform’s release in the SBI comments section. (Though this reaction is probably justified.)

  23. Dank says:

Please don’t make SBI an ad site for selling Jerseys. That was the reason I totally stopped reading EPLTalk.

  24. zztoppppp says:

    That is soooooooo bad.

  25. DR7_Liverpool_ says:

The.Worst.Kit.Ever. well maybe not as bad as some of the jerseys released in the 90’s but it ranks up there closely

Time to fire some Designers at Warrior!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Bumby Hemmingway says:

Kill it! Kill it, with fire!

  27. Dan says:

“Can’t believe I have to wear this” – Gerrard

  28. AC says:

Gerrard isn’t trying to look tough in the photo. He really isn’t happy he has to wear that….haha

  29. Darwin says:

Definitely fits with their historically posh and hip followers, although I don’t understand this trend.

  30. sly says:

Last home kit I purchased was the Carlsberg red with the form fitting sides some special affixes thing they were doing. The most perfect non crown paints kit.

Last away was the black with the silver pinstripes. I plan to go cry in it later. I should have bought the white with the red pinstripes. Which was the third kit that same black away kit year. Exact originator of the goalie kit this year. That as I recall and please correct me, was the last year addidas had the contract.

I think addidas must have known or bribed warrior to be this terrible right after they were this great.

    What’s Kappa doing these days.

  31. Good Jeremy says:

I think my grandmother knit me that jersey a couple years back.

  32. Brian Rants says:

Apparently Warrior hired some of the Nike designers who have destroyed classic kits and jerseys around the world.

Great jerseys are classic, timeless, and instantly recognizable: see the New York Yankees, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Chicago Bears, and Barcelona (before last year). Why do these companies need to make a statement?

If you are going to go “outside the box,” have a reason: my Rapids did this blue/yellow jersey, but it’s based on the colors and the “C” imprint of the Colorado flag. Out of the normal path, but it made sense.

This jersey takes a classic red Liverpool jersey and puts a Fresh Prince of Bel Air pattern on it…why?

  33. Mike says:

Clearly WARRIOR must be owned by Manu or Everton, because they look like they’re on a mission to distroy our Image. I’m going to wikipedia thenm now.

  34. YesItsNate says:

Let’s leave the jerseys of the 90s behind along with the Public Service Announcements, TV Graphics, and the Fashions of “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”…

  35. IgnerAnt says:

Oh DEAR GOD previous commenters were right the 3rd kit is, against all odds, definitely WORSE. Geez, I think they ripped that off of a U-9 AYSO girls team. My lord, I kind of love these now. They’re circling back around to good-bad, they’re way past “horrible.”
Next year, they’re all just going to wear wolf-howling-at-moon t-shirts.

  36. ImaGoalMan says:

Does this kit come with leg warmers?

  37. JustinV says:

In other news – American sporting goods company, Warrior, hit rock bottom today on the NASDAQ.

  38. Drew_OC says:

Now if only they could get Gerrard to sport an Ian Rush ‘stash we’d be right back in 1992!

  39. fischy says:

This is clearly the worst kit since the USA’s denim outfit.

  40. Petke's Balls says:

Right now Jen Chang is in a bar on Merseyside, trying to discover who designed the kits, and threatening to sue them if they design any more.

  41. Petke's Balls says:

Really, it looks like the Christmas version of a space invaders video game from 1983.

    Good lord, so ugly.

  42. Bean says:

The shirt is not so bad. It’s those shorts. They are ugly.

  43. Al says:

This kit is HORRIBLE! Gerrard looks like he is saying “can i take this off now” lol…

  44. THomas says:

Is Liverpool just trolling all of us?

  45. Donovan says:

It looks like it should have a WWF belt with it. And in this corner, “Mouth of the South (America)” Suarez!!!!!!

  46. Victor Aguilar says:

WOW !! thats a bad jersey, looks like MLS circa 96

  47. DCUnitedWillRiseAgain says:

If I was Standard Chartered, I would sue.
