The North Texas Rayados were garbage. Played most of the game up a man and still couldn’t sniff possession. They had two or three guys playing who looked five pounds overweight.

I really wanted to go to that match last night…how have we looked so far? We are two games in I think? Still trying to free up some time to make it to house park soon.

      • AzTeXan says:

It was my first game this year so I’m not too familiar with many of the guys. I was impressed with the guy they had playing left back. I think it was Zach Pope. Dude was a blur making runs down the wing. The Hammerheads will be a much stiffer test in round 2.

Excited for the 100th edition of the this tourney! Hope D.C. united gets their 3rd Open Cup in their history!

I’d like that too. Unfortunately, I don’t think DC is going to be winning anything this year.

  3. David says:

I went to the Michigan Bucks v. Dearborn Stars game. The Bucks announced a coaching change in the hours before kick-off, so that may have rattled them a bit. Otherwise, they didn’t threaten the Stars goal much. The first half ended 0-0 without a lot of goalmouth action. The Stars opened the scoring on a counter and then got their second in stoppage time as the Bucks tried to press forward in vain. The Bucks are usually more successful at the early stages of the Cup, but just finished tryouts and really didn’t look like they had trained much as a unit. The Stars played a composed game, never looking flustered, patiently waiting for the right time to press forward. There were a couple hundred people in attendance at the Ultimate Soccer Arenas, an indoor facility with 2 full size field turf fields that have bleachers (and a well stocked bar). The Stars will play at Dayton next Tuesday.

  6. Charles says:

Hoping for an all Sounder final.

  7. Falcotex says:

A better headline would be: PDL dominates the First Round of the US Open Cup.
    Let’s go Aztex!

  8. stpauljosh says:

I dig the exposure to all the obscure team names. My favorite so far: Ocean City Nor’easters.
