Seems like Arsenal simply don’t have the personnel to deal with Chelsea. I hope they can catch up and make a game of this…
Arsenal has been unimpressive this season to me. Without Cazorla, they would be nearer the bottom of the table then the top. Plenty of talent it seems, but no spirit, or cohesiveness.
Walcott scores one.
He is playing very dangerously up top. He seems to be on the verge of scoring many goals if he can get his timing a tad bit better.
Very excited to watch Tottenham today, love their midfield of Scotty Parker and Dembele with Bale and Lennon on the wings. With Dempsey and Defoe up top. Now that is an attack! Also, glad Dempsey finds a place with the return of Parker.
Demps is starting. My body is ready.
Did Chandler just strain a muscle?
I dont know about Chandler but did john.q?
I know it’s beneficial to be selfish in the final third sometimes, take chances and see what develops. You’ll never score if you don’t shoot/try. That said Spurs seem to be TOO selfish so far in this game. A couple times a teammate has made a great run into space only for a Spurs player to try a harder shot.
I know, Lennon should have played Dempsey in.He was in acres of space but Lennon decides to shoot.WTF
Lennon have a pretty good game so far. Probably best of any player on the pitch. I remember when I didn’t used to rate him at all. But he’s really improved his game IMO
That may be true but the fact remains, he should have played Dempsey in.Instead of going for goal.
Lennon had a brilliant game. Evra looked lost against him.
Michael Bradley > Michael Carrick
Yes. Carrick has fallen way off along with Bradley’s growth.
I didn’t even notice Dempsey until he got fouled.
Did you notice him when he scored the equalizing goal at death to steal points from Sir Alex and Man U? Just saying.
Ridiculous retort.
Just because Dempsey scored a big goal in Fergie time does not negate the fact that he was invisible the rest of the game.
“Did you notice him when he scored?” Of course he was noticed when he scored. Your suggestion that the original poster is incorrect about time frame X (essentially the whole game) because of something done in time frame Y (extra time) is just ridiculous.
If you cannot accept that Dempsey played quite poorly, but pulled one out at the end then you shouldn’t be replying to other people.
A,
“Just because Dempsey scored a big goal in Fergie time does not negate the fact that he was invisible the rest of the game.”
Of course it does.
Dempsey was out there for one reason, to score and he did. Job done.
No, it doesn’t. This revisionist history is the reason USMNT fans are so insufferable sometimes.
Dempsey was awful. He managed to score a late goal. He was still awful.
A,
Give it a rest A. Was Dempsey the reason Man U scored? No.
Was Dempsey the reason Spurs tied Man U? Yes.
You are entitled to your view of how Clint played but you can’t say he did not do his job.
What’s the point of this comment? Dempsey was invisible for most of the game. Yes, he scored a huge goal, and full credit to him. But again, what’s the use of making these snarky comments?
Robin Van Persie. Enough said.
Saw that developing. Soon as the Spurs centerbacks were torn 50 yards apart.
I hope timmy chandler is ok
Spurs ALL over the place righ now. S.L.O.P.P.Y.
Dempsey and Co. just not gelling. Getting uglay for Tottenham
Not a good half for Demps. He gave the ball away in the final third a number of times.
argh demps with a chance but de gea makes an incredible foot save.
Oh, that hurt to watch. De Gea stops Dempsey from close range with another crazy foot save. Great play from Spurs, finally.
Deuce was wheeling away ready to celebrate
Parkhurst on the bench. I thought he was moving to be a starter? Injury? Fitness? Always meant to be backup?
I haven’t watched a whole lot this season, but does Dempsey always give the ball away this much?
Not THIS much no. But to be fair everyone on Spurs is doing the same. No chemistry today. Very selfish play from all Spurs
Deuce dances on the ball and twirls into trouble losing possession..again. Pass the ball Tottenham. All of y’all!
Argh! F moderation!
SBI, if y’all can figure out how to moderate writhin a reasonable span of time, like 2-3 minutes (after that comments in a running commentary are often irrelevant), please consider removing the moderation feature. It’s extremely disruptive.
If y’all *can’t* figure…..
(ps an edit feature would be MOST welcome)
No doubt Dempsey is first sub for Sigursson, as always.
Can’t see it. At least he’s semi-dangerous today and making some chances.
I guess he has showed enough to stay out there. If Spurs don’t get something today it would be a shame
He won’t be an early sub for a while now…..
Much better for Dempsey in second half.
Dempsey has 2-3 more matches whike Adebayor is gone
Need him to score and save the day!
You were prophetic!
Too many long shots by Spurs. Maybe Dempsey can get a rebound.
Wow Defoe should’ve hit that first time.
Dempsey looks tired. not first to the ball.
DEMPSEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
DEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUCCCCEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
Deuce!
DEMPSEY!!!!!!!
DEUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! Texas is in the building!!
Deuce! Poach one!
YES!
Pride of Texas! Pride of America! Pride of USMNT!
Oh man, that was amazing. Dempsey was having a shockingly horrid game… and he scores the vital goal, one that was coming all game long.
little hyperbolic there. ‘shockingly horrid’ would be an unfair characterization.
anyway his equalizer was pure bliss
Not hyperbolic at all. He was having one of his worst games in a Spurs shirt. Wasteful with good chances, passes played straight to the defense nowhere near a white shirt.
No matter. He’s gotten Spurs 4 points from United. That’s all that matters.
You’ve now had 3 people weigh in and comment that it was hyperbolic.
I realize you have an emotional connection to the way Deuce fares — as I do, too — but you can admit when you’ve overstated something.
How was Deuce having a bad game? Keep in mind he is playing against one of the strongest side on planet earth and managed to get more real opportunities than any player on the field. Play football to understand football please.
Go read the comments on Spurs’ SBN page for this game. Mostly from American fans.
Shockingly horrid is quite an overstatement IMO. He had a okay game going until he scored the goal.
“Dempsey was having a shockingly horrid game”
Overreactive hyperbole. You really should come down off that window ledge.
Defoe and Dempsey were finding it hard sledding against a defense that was not, let’s be real here, Chivas USA or even your local high school team.
What did you expect?
.
This
aaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
with 1:30 in added I was thinking – this is Deuce time. Sweeet!
And I love to see Man U drop points…double sweet!
Dempsey goes BOOM!
Good goal by Dempsey. He will start till Emmanuel Adebayor returns from Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
DEMMMMMPPPPPPPSEEEEEEYYYYYYY GAME DAY BUCKET GO BOOOOOMMM!!!
DAMN IT DEMPSEY!! I both hate and love you at the same time right now. Strange…
GIF of Deuce’s goal: link to i.minus.com
Clint MFin’ DEMPSEY!
There is no greater gamer in any sport anywhere. When you need a goal, you go to Deuce. Period.
Great goal from Dempsey. And so sweet against Man U. (I bet the trolls posting their nonsense up above feel pretty stupid now).
What is best about the goal is that it appears AVB has finally realized that Dempsey is a man you need on the field when in desperate need of a goal. Earlier in the season AVB pulled Dempsy in several games around the 70th minute when Tottenham was either tied and needed a win or was down one and needed the equalizer. And for fans above (not the trolls) wringing hands about how poor Dempsey looked today, I would contend that the only attacker who had a better game was Lennon. Defoe had a miserable game and Bale was far from his best. And hard to hold the ball when playing in a snowstom.
Defoe was terrible. Parker and Dembele were, quietly, tremendous. Spurs bossed this game from start to finish and the central midfield was a big reason why. Lennon was MOTM IMO – one of the best games of his life. Leaving Dempsey in was definitely smart. It doesn’t really matter if he’s not playing well – he’s a threat to score out of nowhere at any time.
Ain’t it the truth, man. A shame that Tottenham defense broke down so completely on the RvP goal and that Tottenham couldn’t have taken all three points. As for Defoe, despite his famed selfishness, I have became a fan of his and he has generally been superb thus far this season. But everyone has a bad game from time to time. Plus, as noted, the weather, maybe it affected him more than the others and maybe he was thrown off balance with the absence of Adebeyor who had paired with the past, what?, six or seven games.
And I am slowly coming round to AVB, thinking that this guy might know what he is doing after all. It seems to me that, unlike the prima donnas at Chelsea, the guys at Tottenham believe in him.
AVB had no one on the bench to sub for Dempsey.
Adebayor was in Africa and the Icelander is not a goal scoring sub type.
Your comment clearly indicates that you think you have some sort of posting high ground. You were in the wrong above.
Dempsey was very bad for the majority of the game. Scoring a late goal does nothing to negate that. Period.
Create whatever fantasy you want in your head, but that only helps you.
For the love of God, biff, every week you rant and rave about these supposed trolls attacking Dempsey – where are they? Criticizing a player who is having a poor game is not trolling.
I hear Dempsey scored today. Can anyone confirm?
speak English?
???
He’s making a joke about the amount of comments regarding Dempsey’s epic stoppage time equalizer…
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
Dempsey has now scored 4 goals in his last 4 games and 5 in his last 7. 2nd half of the season could work out pretty well for him.
Orozco and Gomez starting, Beasley and possibly Joya on the bench.Gomez playing wide left Orozco playing rb subbed off at half for injury.Oh wait no one is prob watching this game, bunch of eurosnobs.
Child Please.
Ok at least a couple watched this game.
A case study in why you should ALWAYS leave Dempsey on the field, even if he is having a rough match. Are you reading this, AVB???
Beasley comes on for final 25 min.Gomez misses a chance wide with left foot from six yards out.
Beasley misses a chance over the top with right foot. While the US u-20s watch.
Noriega scores in stoppage time for Puebla, as they beat Santos 2-1.I think Benji Joya was prob in the stands with the u-20s rather than the Santos bench.Anyways as I end the commentarry with myself ,anyone know what the heck RAI is and if the channel is available on direct tv?Trying to catch Inter-Roma.
It’s a channel from Italy I believe….I don’t think DirecTv offers no…but I suppose you have already looked for it? Oh and I think Joya was not with the U-20s however….Beasley made it happen towards the end with that near miss on his off foot and by him pressuring Baloy which lead to free kick of the game winning goal
Good commentary.
Tijuana had a great result against UNAM as well. A good day for gringos.
Well, my Pumas can’t seem to get it right no matter what… Funny how Xolos can come from near sea level Tijuana and seem to have no fitness issues at altitude–they even looked more fit than Toluca in the Apertura final.
Other notes–commentators picked on “Homey” Castillo a bit, perhaps unfairly, Pumas also tried to, but they never got much going on the right. Also, I don’t think Leandro Augusto has ever made even the bench for a game against his old team, either suspension or injury. Also, Joe Benny was out injured.
Bradley wins a penalty kick for Roma which Totti converts! Bradley hasn’t had a bad touch in the game.
should not have been a penalty but mids including Bradley causing some havoc on Inter. Agree Bradley solid so far
Are you watching it on RAI? If so I’m guessing you have cable? Because I was trying to help someone find it on DirecTv but I found out they don’t carry RAI…
Watching the Roma v Inter game. Bradley’s passing game is a joy to watch. His defense is no laughing matter either. He needs to play higher up the pitch to add bite to the offense. He forced a turnover and drew a penalty.
And Madrid score on a counter after a corner basically and they are up 1-0 early on…I know there’s a ton of games left, 18 I believe but it would be nice if they tied or loss so Barca could keep at lest 16 points worth of a lead….would love them to be able to take it easy the last 6 games if they maintain their lead over Real and Atletico to give the young Barca players like Tello, Thiago, Montoya, Bartra, Planas and others even Jonathan Dos Santos some minutes towards the last month of La Liga and because if anyone can go on a 12 game winning streak is Real lol
If anyone can hold Madrid, it should be Valencia CF in La Mestalla. Unfortunately this match is not like their meeting at the end of last season.
NVM. Jinxed them. :/
Yeah I know….Barca just needs to regroup and get back holding possession. Real Sociedad has always given the problems the last 3 seasons…they had tied and lost a game the last 2 times they played away to them…. I swear the Basque region has some great players and teams…. but they need to tear up Osasuna to get back on track next weekend….
Gosh as for Valencia, just when I think they might be making a push for the top 4 again…they get destroyed by Real….
This Madrid game turning into a route. 5-0 half time. Valencia isn’t half as bad as the score is making them seem.
roma game ends 1-1. bradley was solid
Bradley is almost always solid.Hes our next Usmnt capt for sure.
Bradley was great. The whole team was completely dominant, the simply can’t finish the last 3 weeks. They’ve missed chance after chance after chance.
It says alot about US soccer, that our two best field players are not the most naturally gifted players in Bradley and Dempsey. Both have gotten to a high level through hard work and determination.Compare that to Adu & EJ who both have much more natural talent but lack the drive of the former two.
Side note….Chandler was pulled from the game in the 65 minute because of an injury.
sorry didn’t see it above, but it seems as if someone cleaned his clock.
