UEFA Champions League: Your Running Commentary

Chelsea will look to try and take control of one of the toughest groups in the UEFA Champions League when they travel to Ukraine to take on Group E co-leader Shakhtar Donetsk in one of today’s top match-ups.

Donetsk looked very impressive drawing with Juventus in their previous group match and could grab control of this difficult group with a win against a Chelsea side enjoying a solid run of form domestically.

Bayern Munich will look to shake off the effects of their stunning loss to BATE Borisov in Match Day Two with a win against struggling Lille. The Germans are rolling domestically and can re-assert their place as one of the top teams in their group with a victory.

  1. MemRook says:

Chelsea and Man U down early. Drama drama drama.

  2. Matt says:

Parkhurst with a nifty little move to split and then nutmeg a defender to earn a corner

  3. MemRook says:

    Barca down early too!!!

  4. Matt says:

Parkhurst with another splitting pass that leads ot a shot from just outside the box, but straight to the keeper.

  5. Liga says:

Mascherano own goal. That’s the kind of luck you need to beat the greatest team ever.

  6. biff says:

Philipp Lahm dives in the box (and I mean it was truly a dive) but none other than ref Martin Atkinson awards Bayern a penalty kick. Bayern up 1-0.

  7. Matt says:

Not Champions league, but Ream is starting for Bolton as it is tied 1-1 (sorry saw no other place to put this)

  8. ISAF says:

I wanna see Yanks at top CL clubs within the next 20 years

  9. Matt says:

Nordsjaelland with a break on the keeper, but fails to convert.

  10. Liga says:

Having to watch game after game of 11 men behind the ball in every Barcelona match just makes me not even want to watch. It’s ridiculous.

    • MemRook says:

Every time, man. Every single time. Barca plays a team less talented than them. That team bunkers and counters. You call it the most ridiculous thing youve ever seen. Almost formulaic.

  11. Matt says:

Nordsjaelland fortunate, as a bad give away in the back leaves Juventus with a 1on1 but the keeper makes the save.

  12. Liga says:

That. Was. Insane. Magnificent tiki-taka goal from Barcelona.

  13. Matt says:

0-0 at HT between Juventus and Nordsjaelland. An even match so far.

  14. Matt says:

Beautiful free kick goal from Nordsjaelland; they are up 1-0

  15. Liga says:

James Forrest with a dive that Greg Louganis would be proud of.

  16. Liga says:

Good thing we have Celtic to make this unwatchable. 62 minutes into the match and they’ve only completed 120 passes. What a joke.

    • biff says:

Yeah, Celtic is tied with Barcelona 1-1- in the 75nd minute in Camp Nou. What a joke of a team Celtic is.

But seriously, Celtic is under intense pressure but would love to see then hold off the great Barcelona attack and sneak a counter goal for a miracle win.

    • away goals says:

Yes. A scottish team is on level terms with the best team on the planet and they are a joke.

Thank god uefa will penalize them, regardless of the full time result, with the dreaded Pass Quota Deduction.

    • MemRook says:

      Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I like watching Barca too but yuuve gotta mellow out a little man. You choose to follow Barca so you know what to expect in these kinds of games.

But your negativity on here is just as annoying as Barca’s opponents. Fitting I guess.

We get it. You’re a huge Barca supporter. We all appreciate their brand of football.

But games gotta be played and there isn’t a law that says they all have to (or can) play like messi, Iniesta, Xavi and co.

    • GSScasual says:

glory hunter… what made you become a barca fan? thanks, i got it.

    • Eurosnob says:

As a Barca supporter, I don’t have a problem with Celtic’s tactics or quality of their play. Their talent level and the club budget are not even remotely comparable to Barca. It is hard to fault Celtic under these circumstances, particularly after the deep pocketed Chelsea parked the bus and played hopeful long balls against Barca last year.

      • Mon the Hoops says:

Thank you. Someone with sense on the board. Barcelona is incredible. And they’re light-years more talented than Celtic. But they also outspend virtually every club in the world, and have €483 million in debt. If the guy who started this thread wants a level playing field for his viewing pleasure, maybe that’s the thing that has to change.

  17. Liga says:

Celtic players go down easier than Lindsay Lohan at a club.

    • Mon the Hoops says:

This is coming from a La Liga supporter, and Barca in particular? I can’t tell if this is a joke or not.

  18. Liga says:

    This is ridiculous.

The entire Celtic team owes Foster a hooker a piece. 5 point blank saves and counting.

  19. Matt says:

and Juventus has tied it up.

  20. away goals says:

    ridiculo

  21. M Vann says:

Gutted. Absolutely gutted. Celtic put up a mighty effort and certainly deserved a point. Barca isn’t who they are without being able to pull out victories like this. Celtic caused all kinds of havoc and played with such warrior like mentality. As Iife long Celtic supporter I couldn’t be more proud of The Bhoys. It’s a cruel to lose in stoppage time but they have nothing to be ashamed of.
