Toronto FC, Sounders look for wins in CCL openers

With Real Salt Lake losing in their 2012-2013 CONCACAF Champions League opener, Toronto FC and the Seattle Sounders will aim to pick up MLS's first victories in the competition when they kick off their respective campaigns.

Toronto FC will kick things off inside their home stadium on Wednesday night, as El Salvador outfit Aguilla pay a visit to BMO Field. The Reds should have enough firepower to find the back of the net, with Ryan Johnson and newcomers Quincy Amarikwa and Eric Hassli all available for the match. But anything less than a victory in this bout could prove damning, as group favorites Santos Laguna wait in the wings to begin their repeat run to the final.

The Sounders also begin their quest for a Champions League title at home in CenturyLink Field, as they host Trinidad and Tobago outfit Caledonia AIA in the Group 4 opener on Thursday. A victory at home will likely be what Seattle needs if it hopes to advance into the knockout phase of the tournament, especially since the Sounders play their next two matches in the tournament on the road. That means the likes of Fredy Montero and Eddie Johnson will need to be at their best in front of goal in order to give the Sounders a shot at picking up three points.

How do you see Seattle and Toronto doing in their CCL openers on Wednesday? Expecting both to pick up wins? Think they can each emerge from their groups and into the knockout phase of the tournament?
