SBI MLS Best XI (Week 22)

Eddie Johnson's form that made him an MLS All-Star has continued on to the latter portion of the season as well.

Johnson's 10th goal of the season in Seattle's 4-0 rout of Los Angeles led to a Player of the Week performance and sealed his place on SBI's MLS Best XI for Week 22. He is joined by the architects of two of the prettier goals of the week, Montreal's Felipe Martins and Seattle's Alex Caskey.

On the defensive end, Alessandro Nesta continued to show his class as part of the Impact's shutout of the Philadelphia Union, Emiliano Dudar starred in a spot start for D.C. United, and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman came up big repeatedly for FC Dallas in the club's 1-1 draw in Portland.

Here are this week's selections for SBI MLS Best XI:

Funny how so many thought signing Nesta was a bad idea…

  2. Justin says:

These are always way too offensive. Hardly anyone plays 3 in the back. You saying that only 3 defenders in the league had a god game?

  3. Charles says:

Alex Caskey !! I hope he starts tomorrow, he has earned it.

  4. Jeff says:

Papa is honorable mention for the goal he scored for Chicago or for the goal he scored for Toronto?

  5. RLW2020 says:

Nane! glad to see Colorado final break the bad streak and Nane to get some recognition for his great play. certainly a surprise even to the most informed Colorado fans… although id say Morales had a better game than Nane, but im not complaining.

  6. Rich says:

Papa didn’t score for Toronto but he had a great assist. The goal he scored for Chicago was a thing of beauty…he had to have the patience to wait for an opening to develop before he threaded the needle with the ball.

  7. 2tone says:

Austin Berry has been outstanding as a Rookie CB. wouldn’t be surprised to see him and Matt Hedges called up to the January Camp. Berry and Hedges both have bright futures at CB.

Pontius should get a call-up for the Mexico friendly.

  8. Tom says:

No Taylor for the Dynamo? Not even an honorable mention? Scores a goal in the first two minutes and totally shuts down the high priced NYRB offense. What else does he need to do?

  9. Bob Marley says:

    Jah
