Nagbe goal gives Timbers tie on road with TFC

The Portland Timbers may not have won their first road game of the season on Wednesday night, but they did manage to get a result that surely felt like a victory.

The Timbers drew Toronto FC, 2-2, at BMO Field on Wednesday after a late headed goal from Darlington Nagbe. The Timbers attacker took advantage of some poor defending by TFC to get open and equalize in the 82nd minute after Portland had relinquished a 1-0 lead earlier.

Sal Zizzo netted the opener in the first half of the game, but Eric Hassli and Luis Silva both scored after the intermission to put the hosts back on top. Unfortunately for Toronto and its fan, the recurring theme of giving up a late goal transpired once again as Nagbe knocked in his fourth goal of the season.

Here are the match highlights:

What do you think of Portland's 2-2 draw with TFC? Wondering what Toronto has to do to cure its disease of giving up late goals? Do you see this result giving the Timbers momentum ahead of their next road game against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday?

That second goal is exactly what we need, perfect build up play and tight passing. We still fell asleep defensively on the goals, but at least we remembered how to score a couple this time.
Two game not losing streak, I’ll take it.
