Harrisburg, shut off the jock jams and PA, for God’s sake.

  2. CorkSoccer says:

    Any update on Union/United?

  3. Northzax says:

1-1 at the soccerplex. Brian Carrol in the 46th, Josh Wolff thirty seconds later

  4. ThaDeuce says:

    dc united!

  5. ThaDeuce says:

why in the world is an mls on mls match not on video?

  6. wildchild says:

    Red bulls are not impressing

  7. VADCUfan says:

Apparently the internet at the Maryland Soccerplex is not strong enough for live streaming.

  8. jya says:

Chivas USA not very impressive either they win on a late penalty. Another bad night for MLS so far

  9. chris says:

Red Bulls down 2-1 in 1st overtime.

  10. Neal says:

Harrisburg up 2-1 in extra time

  11. Neal says:

    Damn, you, Chris.
    Beat me to it…

  12. Northzax says:

They won. An in a cup tourney that’s all that matters. Ouch for Boss on the handball though.

Harrisburg took DC down a few years back, too.

  13. drew11 says:

He also made a fool of himself after the whistle getting into it with the ref and then saying something JPA did not like.

  14. BrianK says:

Anyone watching NYRB v. Harrisburg,…there is no difference between these teams. It is not as if Red Bulls are all over Harrisburg. This Touray for Harrisburg is a nice player.

  15. Chris says:

Agudelo scored a beautiful goal, they controlled and domination the first half while playing some attractive ball, and won. Mission accomplished in my book.

  16. BrianK says:

Wow! Horrific no-call on a blatant handball in the box on a cross. Terrible miss by the official and the linesman. Red Bulls hard done by! Should have been a PK for Red Bulls and red card for Harrisburg.

Harrisburg comes down a few possessions later and goes up 3-1.

Love the Open Cup. This is what it is all about.

  17. Joamiq says:

I disagree. The Red Bulls aren’t at full strength, but they’ve still dominated this game. But it’s not good enough if you can’t score.

Touray used to be a Red Bull. Probably part of why he’s played with so much energy.

  18. Scott A says:

Harrisburg’s other two goals looked offside too.

  19. Jon says:

damn neone know if theres somewhere i can watch chivas highlights? or where there will be?

  20. Chupacabra says:

Face it. The better team won. Goodbye Backe’s slackas.

  21. AcidBurn says:

That handball was a joke. The Harrisburg player literally reached up and swatted the ball over the bar with his hand. I couldn’t believe the ref missed that one. Atrocious. Backe should rip the ref a new one.

  22. heff says:

So if this is what “going for it” looks like, I hope the Red bulls don’t want to win another thing this season. That was pretty awful. Sure the handball call would have made it a different game and we’d all be watching a shootout now instead of writing here, but in the end that was a terrible game. Wish I could say that Harrisburg really put in a great performance, but they didn’t. It was bad all around, I felt like I was watching a D3 college game.

  23. Foshizzle says:

Let’s see if this Cal FC can beat an MLS team.

  24. Greg B says:

    Rooting for Cal FC.

  25. Tim F. says:

I can’t believe that handball was not called; the game should have been 2-2 with HCI down a man. This is a joke

  26. Mike says:

Lol did I really see that?

Dude just reached up and punched the ball over the goal. How in the hell was that not called?

  27. Drew says:

Highlights are normally up on carolinarailhawks.com a day or so after the game.

  28. Gnarls says:

Cal FC!! Cal FC!! Cal FC!!

  29. Gnarls says:

A second MLS team, you mean.

  30. brant says:

refereeing in the Chivas-Railhawks game was crap. The linesman in front of the Railhawks bench was complete crap and had no idea how to call offsides.

The handball that gave Chivas the PK at the end was a legit call, but if the pass into the box had been on the other end of the field, the linesman likely would’ve called it offsides.

Nice that local TV showed the game in Raleigh, on an HD feed that most local cable customers got.

Pathetic that local news thinks “Chivas” is pronounced “SHI-ves” like the booze instead of “shee-VASS” like the soccer team.

Chivas played a pretty strong lineup, with Riley and Califf in the back, Vagenas and Moreno in the middle, and Juan up front, and added Angel late in the game.

Railhawks played well, but let the refs bad calls got them rattled and they got out of their game. For some reason they tried to play a lot of aerial balls forward to Schilawski and Da Luz. They’re both listed at 5’10″ but there’s no way. Those guys could do jumping jacks under a 5’10″ doorway.
Good passing out of the back from Low and Elenio, but lacked good linking play from front-mid forward.

Chivas had excellent control of the middle with Vagenas and Moreno, who played smart balls most of the night. Not a lot of creativity, but very few mistakes.

Califf was *very* rough in the back, and was consistently hacking Schilawski behind the play, completely taking his legs out at one point when the ref wasn’t looking. It was effective, and the ref let him get away with it, but it was dirty.

Railhawk Amir Lowery got into a few tussles with some Chivas players, and went dancing with Angel at one point that the ref had to break up. He was tough, but mostly focused on the ball, unlike Califf, who was hacking behind the play.

Good game, and Chivas were probably the better team overall, but it was hard to tell through the atrocious refereeing. Worst I’ve seen in over 10 years.

  31. brant says:

just put on CalFC game – LOVE the FSC jerseys!

  32. Foshizzle says:

Nope, I said what I meant.

  33. josh says:

Can someone on the SOunders take a goddamn decent first touch?

I hope it is the pitch that they are not used to. This kickball game is not easy on the eyes so far. I undertsand why Europhiles are not so high on the MLS product…would like to see some 1-2 passes at some point.

  34. Seriously says:

Anyone got a stream for Cal FC v Seattle?

  35. g-dub says:

    This from the Sounders website:

    link to ustream.tv

  36. Seriously says:

    Got it.

  37. g-dub says:

0 – 0 halftime Sounders and Cal. Cal again playing very well, highly organized soccer.

  38. nate says:

At some point doesn’t this get pretty embarrassing for the Sounders? They can’t score on 11 guys with day jobs?

  39. Shaggy says:

I try to like Montero but he plays like a ****** prick.

  40. Shaggy says:

Dude, they work the Late shift at Wendy’s, that’s called a night job. ;)

  41. g-dub says:

At least they got FSC to buy them some jerseys for this game that are a step up from the Walmart sales rack.

  42. mike22 says:

Anyone know the way cal FC got into the us open cup? How does a team formed only two months ago qualify for the tournament? Do they have to pay a fee?

  43. g-dub says:

Hand ball penalty for Sounders on the Montero shot.

  44. g-dub says:

Alonso buries it – Carillo got a hand to it.

  45. divers suck says:

Sounders bringing Eric Wynaldas pub team back down to earth!

  46. Hoppercool says:

Here comes the beat down from Seattle. Turns out Portland just sucks.

  47. divers suck says:

Since halftime to the 70th minute Seattle 5 CalFC pub league nil…..Suck on that Portland!!

  48. Jason B says:

Not so embarrassing at this point though.

  49. divers suck says:

I must admit, streaming between the boorish FSC channel and the SSFC stream with Ross Fletcher(former Derby County diehard announcer) and Alan Hinton(Derby County legend) was like night and day, with the SSFC announcers (admittedly homers) giving full props to CAL FC…..

  50. g-dub says:

And Cal goes down, but an impressive run. At half it looked a lot like the Portland game. It took a penalty to open the floodgates. After having to come out and play it was difficult for them.

  51. Shaggy says:

LOL @ the fox soccer camera man. He must have ate grass right as the cut to his camera. pretty funny.

  52. nate says:

Well, I guess that works out then. 5-0 Seattle.

  53. Scott A says:

    No thanks punk rocker.

  54. Lassidawg says:

Unlucky on the pk call, but the right call.
How the timbers lost is beyond me, it looked cal fc played more organized tonight than last week. At least in the first 50 minutes.

  55. g-dub says:

San Jose through on the Lenhart header from Beta service. Sets up a battle with the Sounders. SJ looks hungry and will be tough at home. If there’s an end to the Sea 4peat path this could be it.

  56. cajun says:

Yep..I foresee both A(ish) teams committing to this…

  57. Kejsare says:

And you sir, are a fool.

  58. Kejsare says:

One singular bad game is all it took for Portland. Remember that.

  59. Kejsare says:

Why is this about Portland today?

    We know we’re disappointed.

  60. YaBoy says:

Despicable no call on that handball in the RBNY – Harrison game… I mean, what was the officiating crew looking at? They didn’t even award a corner lol. It was a goal kick.

  61. YaBoy says:

    *Harrisburg

  62. Lathe of Heaven says:

more like a Season of bad luck

  63. jg says:

I didn’t see it but it must have been even worse than the Hand of Gaul. How very unfair.

  64. MLStoRaleigh says:

Had my eye on Gale Abossoumonde. He was partially responsible for both goals. He has a long way to go before he can be trusted on the back line in respect to the national team.
