High-quality performances are becoming the norm for New York Red Bulls rookie goalkeeper Ryan Meara.
Meara posted his third straight shutout in a mid-week match against the Houston Dynamo before coming up big down the stretch against the Philadelphia Union to preserve the Red Bulls' fourth victory in a row and capture SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors for the third consecutive week.
This week, Meara beat out the likes of San Jose's Sam Garza, who notched his first assist on a game-tying goal; Philadelphia's Ray Gaddis, who turned in another strong performance in defense for the Union; and Chicago's Austin Berry, who has thrived since becoming a starter at centerback and was a big part of the Fire's scoreless draw against Real Salt Lake and win over Sporting Kansas City.
What did you think of Meara's performances this week? Was there another rookie you considered more impressive? What other rookies did you enjoy watching this past week?
