SBI MLS Rookie of the Week: Darren Mattocks

Darren Mattocks picked a good time to score his first professional goal, netting the equalizer in Vancouver's 1-1 draw vs. Cascadia rival Portland on Saturday.

The goal, one of several scored by MLS rookies this past weekend, made Mattocks our pick for SBI MLS Rookie of the Week. Mattocks beat out a strong field of rookies who did well in the past week's slate of games. 2012 MLS first-round picks Andrew Wenger, Matt Hedges and Austin Berry all scored goals last week.

What did you think of Mattocks' performance? Which rookie impressed you the most in MLS Week 12?

He’s been out injured most of the season. He’ll get plenty of playing time.

True. On the reserve game goal he didn’t need to use his arm to push the ball past the defender before the shot.
