New USMNT, USWNT jerseys unveiled

USA 2012:13 jersey

The red-and-white hooped jersey making the rounds months ago is indeed the U.S. men's national team's new home jersey. It is the U.S. women's national team jersey, too.

For the first time, Nike has unified the kits for the United States men's and women's teams, U.S. Soccer revealed on Monday. The 2012/2013 jersey continues the use of a sash, just as the new road uniform for the men's team does.

The U.S. men's team will debut the new jerseys in its friendly against Scotland on May 26 at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. The women's team will wear the new jersey for the first time a day later, when it takes on China in a friendly at PPL Park in Chester, Pa.

The American flag is the jersey's inspiration. Red and white horizontal lines are complimented by a blue collar. A pre-sale for the jerseys will begin on April 17 at ussoccer.com. The kits will be available for purchase at stores starting May 1.

What do you think of this jersey? Will you be buying one? Liking the idea of unifying the men's and women's team jerseys? Are you a Houston Dynamo fan wondering what to do?

  1. Yo-Joe says:

Don’t like it. Trying too hard. Keep it simple.

  2. GSScasual says:

I like it… but, i cant wait to read the uproar.

  3. REX says:

    bARF. fc DULLASS

  4. bryan says:

    Eh…

  5. DallasTillIDie says:

Hoops have been a disastrous seller for FC Dallas. People, in general, do not want to wear a vertical stripped design as causal wear. Please, don’t tell me about Celtic or some other Euro club with long standing traditions. One used to see a red Dallas Burn jersey frequently as walking about the mall, or wherever. Today, you almost never, ever see a FC Dallas hoop’d jersey outside of the actual matches. I’ve been told that FCD sells the fewest jerseys in MLS.

I will be interesting to see if the USMNT design can change that, not only for the national team, but have a positive effect on Dallas’ jersey sales too.

  6. Felix says:

I’m lukewarm on that jersey, it looks alright on the pitch, its nothing I’d wear out though.

I only wish they would stick to a consistent design, something that we could identify to our USMNT.

  7. DallasTillIDie says:

    sorry, I meant horizontal stripes…

  8. AC says:

    Where’s Waldo?

  9. TADevil says:

    I LOVE them.

  10. RedStateJim says:

I saw those uniforms along side the highway, picking up trash and cutting grass with a sling blade

  11. Dimidri says:

Like it. Looks better than FCD’s old jersey. Anybody know if they are keeping the current 3rd red alternate kit as the new alternate kit? Also what shorts/socks will be worn with this?

Won’t buy one until numbers are formalized, JK keeps changing them around and whatnot(its fine, just saying).

  12. dcm says:

nothing beats those charcoal grey jerseys we had for like 3 games. all the rest has been crap, more or less.

  13. David says:

Benn hopping for a striped jersey for awhile. Would have preferred vertical but these are nice too.

  14. Kevin G. says:

Leave it to Nike to make the ugliest kits. At least their jerseys have caught up to the ugliness of their shoes

  15. jonk says:

Didn’t you notice, the USMNT identity is anything Nike wants as long as it has a subtle sash across the front.

  16. GSScasual says:

The USMNT supporters in the Midwest and the south, i could imagine having a problem with horizontal stripes..

  17. qax says:

A step down from the last World Cup jerseys. Fine for the team, not gonna buy one for myself tho…here’s hoping the 2014 World Cup jerseys are more consumer-friendly!

  18. Stephen says:

I like it. Simple, but different. I don’t get all the hate about jerseys in general. If you want to hate something, hate the logo. That’s in desperate need of an upgrade.

  19. Stephen says:

    What does that mean?

  20. Mark says:

I agree. Loved those. Something I would actually wear.

  21. EN says:

“Are you a Houston Dynamo fan wondering what to do?”

This questions doesn’t compute. Why would us Dynamo fans wonder what to do? It’s simple. Screw that jersey and keep on wearing the ones we got from ’10 or ‘6 or whatever.

Wouldn’t be caught dead wearing something like that.

  22. Jim in Atlanta says:

A Kid who got picked on for wearing sketchers says what?

  23. Flacotex says:

Are the shorts going to be blue with stars?

  24. dannyk says:

I have to say guys, I think they’re better than our minimalist white jerseys. At least it’s something bold, something that stands out a bit more. Not saying they hit it out of the park, no, but I do think it’s an upgrade. And significantly different than (though reminiscent of) FC Dallas’ kits.

  25. CR says:

I like it, but I am an FCD fan so that might play into it.

  26. Sam says:

I’m surprised Nike didn’t make glow-in-the-dark pink and blue a la Oregon/Baylor….but these are still terrible. I hope they realize how bad they are and only wear the blue.

  27. Mike says:

Do not like. Will they grow on me, perhaps. I also didn’t like the vest we wore against Italy. If they’d drop the white sleeves for blue, I would like those.

  28. John says:

FCD’s hoops are much more tasteful than this. 2010 looked like a candy-striper. This looks like a candy cane.

  29. GSScasual says:

    really?

  30. Dinho says:

Dmidri, hate to break it to you, but the numbers will never be truly “finalized.”

JK changes numbers based on position and roster. That is ever-changing….

I think the only safe bet is Timmy, and he won’t be wearing these…

  31. Siberian says:

The jersey looks 100x better with the blue numbers printed on. It’s the American flag and with blue shorts, it doesn’t look like Where’s Waldo at all. It looks like the flag!

  32. RB says:

I guess he’s putting them down as the CW in terms of fashion is that horizontal stripes are to be avoided for those on the heftier side.

  33. RB says:

    God awful.

    Butt ugly.

  34. NodaNob says:

Not sure… in away I think most National teams are wearing very simple, one color designs… So on the on hand we’re the odd ball out, but then again it would be nice to be different.

Only thing that makes me not wanna buy it is that it seems like not of our identity. I mean, could be confused with like 5 other teams… we need an identity, like Brazil’s scrach du oro, or Argentina’s “albi-celeste” we keep changing things up and have no real design to call our own.

  35. Mario says:

I will miss the sash…it was such a classy look.
    The horizontal stripes are awful.

  36. Evil Troy and Evil Abed says:

Count me as another one that actually likes it (with the exception of the pointless, near invisible sash). I just wish we would have a consistent jersey for identity’s sake. Seeing the picture of Dempsey wearing it reminds me of Argentina’s uniform. For all those who hate it, don’t tell me that you like Argentina’s kit.

  37. Chris says:

Bring back the Copa’s and never change the kit again.

  38. pete says:

    Don’t think so…

  39. kfly says:

Indeed. I liked the sash thing, I just thought it should have been a red or blue sash on the white jersey. This is going to be an eyesore.

  40. swoopy says:

You will miss what sash, exactly?

  41. scott says:

i thought that was a watermark, haha.

  42. Kevin G. says:

Ha must have hit too close to home.

  43. RB says:

I don’t know, but I think he’s referring to the sash that has been the key design element in all the USMNT jerseys over the past couple of years.

    I could be wrong…

  44. GSScasual says:

its a joke that requires thick skin… lol thick. im an a-hole.

  45. Kevin G. says:

Ha! maybe there’s an alternative kit for the Nashville games.

  46. dudinho says:

Agreed this is utter crap should of kept it white

    Yuck!!!

  47. Polo says:

    I found Waldo.

He’s the one sitting on a pile of money for this jersey design when in reality he just took off his shirt and sewed a USMNT patch to it.

  48. fenel1 says:

    FC Dallas goes national. ugly!!!

  49. johnnycougar says:

Not a fan of the horizontal stripes. I really enjoy that the jersey doesn’t even have 13 stripes, at least not from the front. You can sort of count 13 on the back if the white part at the bottom isn’t tucked in, and if you’re counting the white strip on top of the shoulders.

I think it would be neat if the faded sash was actually strong and laid over the stripes, and maybe it could be blue with white spots for the stars. Then the stripes wouldn’t be so in-your-face and it would look even more like the flag.

  50. KevDC says:

I just wish they’d pick a standard look and color, at least for the home kits. I like the way Brazil, for example, just tweaks their uniforms. The only reason for a total overhaul every couple years to to sell jerseys, but it comes at the cost of having a recognizable look for the U.S.

Also, it’s way past time to change the crest from the cheesy soccer ball one we’ve had for too long.

  51. Andy says:

You know what? I kind of like them. They’re interesting, and they make a statement. The understated sash is really stupid, but overall I think I’ll like them. The navy shorts will complete the red, white, and blue also.

  52. TADevil says:

Check these pictures for a better look.

    link to facebook.com

  53. rafael borrero says:

-Horrible! Seriously, has the USMNT done something to get punished this way? Its a silly looking uniform. All one needs is a hat from Dr. Suess and a fuuny voice.

  54. NodaNob says:

Reminds me of this: link to t1.gstatic.com

  55. Andy says:

Not the most patriotic ones, but I agree those were pretty nice looking.

  56. A wise man once says:

I like it, but I would like it more if they either took out the sash altogether or made it more noticeable. Also, having the player numbers on the front looks ugly.

  57. Buddle-icious says:

    These are just awful.

I have bought most USNT jerseys, going back to the denim Adidas ones from WC 94. I will not be buying this one. It’s terrible.

  58. weaksauce says:

Nike already has this pattern on a US soccer ball months ago !!!

    where’s the surprise ????

  59. RB says:

Sorry, but what is the statement?

Only thing that comes to mind for me in that regard are “We are candy stripers” or “We love candy canes” or the like…

  60. RLW2020 says:

    HAHA!

  61. NEPA says:

absolutely the truth. bring ‘em back.

  62. Scotty says:

I’m thinking if they kept the top two red stripes, and left the rest white it might look better.

    As it… Not a fan.

  63. Scotty says:

    As it is*

  64. Jon says:

At least looking from the back, they got 13 stripes. But I think they need to reverse the red/white.

  65. huhe888 says:

If you don’t like the kit, then vote with your wallet:

    DON’T BUY THE REPLICAS

Nike will get the message soon enough and come up with a replacement for 2013.

    ==

Nothing is wrong with the all-white and all-blue kits.

Nike simply wants you to buy new replicas.

  66. Villain-from-Texas says:

    I love them.

  67. Kevin_Amold says:

I feel like a lone voice that actually likes this quite a bit. Guess we’re in the minority on this one…

  68. RLW2020 says:

    +1

  69. Bobby says:

    Yikes…that is all…

  70. Poo says:

    My first thought.

  71. RLW2020 says:

    good one.

  72. mattjack says:

seriously Ives, can we get some better photos up so the trolls don’t have pages of comments about it looking like the FC Dallas uniform. This whole post needs a reset!

    link to footballshirtculture.com

  73. Kevin_Amold says:

I agree with this sentiment. But my wallet will vote for this shirt.

  74. RLW2020 says:

    id take that over this.

  75. GSScasual says:

whats good about it is, like the Yankees, no one can keep thier eyes off the pinstripes… it distracts the opponents, and gives a target to your teammates.

  76. RLW2020 says:

    +1 better idea

  77. TADevil says:

Amen. People need to look at more photos of them before going crazy.

    link to facebook.com

  78. Don Pelayo says:

These are amazing. By far my favorite jersey the USMNT has put out.

  79. Taylor says:

i don’t hate it, but why the hell can’t we have a little continuity for once? look at the best teams, they change their jerseys from time to time, but keep the same basic idea. we, on the other hand, have to change it every 6 months? why?

  80. Crist says:

    Ugly…..Nike needs some fresh ideas.

  81. boosted335 says:

    Its not 4/1 anymore Ives

  82. RLW2020 says:

yup, i really need to buy a new jersey but i didn’t buy one last year and certainly not this year. as far as USNT & MLS jersey’s go I have found better unofficial jerseys/shirts that don’t look like crap. maybe 2013 will be the year to buy one.

  83. GSScasual says:

we are still finding our identity.. i find it fitting.

  84. dan says:

    Really?!?!?! please…

  85. bryan says:

yeah, those were awesome. along with the ’09 Copa America jerseys.

  86. dan says:

I just think NIKE could have done better…. not very original design to say the least.

  87. bryan says:

did you miss the ’09 Copa America jersey? blue kit with white vertical stripes.

  88. Air Jordanz says:

Jerseys will be pseduo-finalized (in that everyone will have a name and # on their jersey) for WCQ. They are also “finalized” for official competitions.

Per Klinsmann, there will be a firm 23 man roster for WCQ with a few alternates on constant notice in case of injuries.

I’d count on the numbers 1-26 or so being associated with a name in the next 3 months.

  89. Joel says:

We went from amazing kits to… candy canes. The hell.

  90. Ian says:

because money! lots and lots of sweet, sweet money!

  91. bryan says:

yeah, the logo has to be re-done too. the fact we have stars above it is a JOKE. the women should be the ones with starts since they have actually won a WC. the men’s jersey should not have stars.

to me, the logo itself shouldn’t include stars meant to represent WC wins.

  92. Taylor says:

    true, very true.

but how about this: i was going to buy the one we already had, since today is my birthday. but now, they aint getting my money for this one. customer lost

  93. bryan says:

i couldn’t agree more. i have that jersey and it is by far the best one. that one and the charcoal one.

  94. Air Jordanz says:

If they wear the new away kits with WHITE shorts, they will look much. much better, a la Arsenal or AZ. It’s silly to wear blue shorts with both home and away jerseys.

  95. bryan says:

whether or not you like these jerseys, everyone should take a few minutes ot contact USSF and let them know you would like USSF to come up with a standard look for the US national teams and stop changing it so drastically every few months. also, be sure to include that the USSF logo has to be changed.

eventually they’ll get the message…i hope!

  96. Dubs says:

Awful. If the point is to sell jerseys they should come up with something that doesn’t make you look like “Where’s Waldo”

    Seriously. Eyes bleeding here.

  97. GSScasual says:

Check out the Nike photo with Demps rocking the new kit.. looks dope. link to twitter.com

  98. Rory says:

FINALLY, a reason for us to feel good about missing the Olympics.

  99. rory says:

why do we change so often? one word: Nike.

  100. rory says:

It always seems to me that Seattle Sounder’s fans look to be the heaviest on TV. Maybe shocking green adds 50 or 60lbs on TV.

  101. TADevil says:

    That is dope.

  102. Jbehr says:

I like them & the consistency with our flag

  103. Air Jordanz says:

Check out the sexiness of (most of) the Euro 2012 jerseys.

    link to bleacherreport.com

The Dutch and Croatian jerseys by Nike (a US company) show just how much we’re getting shafted…

Umbro also has some nice ones in there.

  104. Neal says:

The jersey? Eh, take it or leave it.

Think that the best thing is that they unified the men’s and women’s kits.

  105. Nicholas says:

Not a big fan…..Also….these aren’t exactly the jersey. The authentic jerseys leave huge white spaces on the front and back for the numbers. Just put the blue numbers over the hoops.

  106. Nicholas says:

Looks pretty badass there. France with the best look there by far.

  107. sciroccer says:

Yuk! Nice tribute to Dr. Suess

  108. bryan says:

i almost think this makes it worse for me.

  109. Nicholas says:

They do look much better in those pics….Road jersey’s exceeded my expectations when I saw them in person.

  110. john.q says:

would have been better if just ONE red stripe ran across the chest through the crest and nike logo.

this is tooo waldo like we’re gonna look ridiculous!

  111. Sam says:

    ’07 Copa America

  112. Graham says:

    More like, we found Waldo.

  113. Neruda says:

More like wheres Wando and Herc…

  114. PD says:

agreed. ditch the stars at the top until we actually win a cup.

  115. TonyT says:

I already have one, although mine has the FC Dallas crest on it ;)

  116. Robert Daniels says:

Ahh beat me to it! I was scrolling down the page and thinking “still no where’s Waldo reference?”

  117. PD says:

one isn’t impressed by the jersey, they’re impressed by the game it represents:

  118. Dimidri says:

    Nike owns Umbro.

  119. Nwhit says:

    Where’s. Waldo?

  120. TonyT says:

    Looks cool on Dempsey!

  121. Dimidri says:

Thanks. Blue numbers on back a la QPR are super cool, only wish the number would go over the hoops on the front, not weirdly interrupt them. Also blue socks, not white. Red and white/blue/blue would be much cooler.

  122. PD says:

actually some of them are pretty god awful as well… sweden ireland italy germany greece and spain are winners

  123. Mike Caramba says:

It’s really strange to me that a significant portion of our fanbase mocks our jerseys every single time a new one comes out. Don’t get it. The designs aren’t bad (most of the time since ’94).

  124. PD says:

i hear a sea chanty in the background. he’s one knit cap away from being a punch line.

  125. PD says:

these photos are much more accurate. now the players look like they are both screaming HELP GET THIS CRAPPY JERSEY OFF ME!

  126. CentralScrutinizer says:

    Terrible.

  127. Snare says:

    My thoughts exactly

  128. Gnarls says:

    Haha, same here.

  129. RB says:

I think the designs have generally sucked.

  130. Ian says:

    …so you’re sayin’ there’s a chance?

  131. chupacabra says:

    Craptacular. Looks like “Where’s Wynalda?”.

  132. chupacabra says:

And the shoes will be size 28 clown shoes.

  133. PurpleGold says:

I think of the stars as IN the logo, not above it. We have stars on our flag, so does Ghana and Chile, and they have them in their crest too. I dont have a problem with it, and I think changing it is just going to set us back as far as getting an “identity” that so many fans want. England and Brazil dont change their logo every 15 years, we shouldn’t either.

  134. Ezra says:

I like the idea of unifying the men’s and women’s kits. Although, I’m a little sad because I thought the women’s kit was really unique and looked good, whereas the men’s kits historically leave much to be desired.

  135. wilyboy says:

    So many options.

Clint Dempsey can finish, cuz he eats his spinach…

Christmas came early this year. Real early.

    Where’s Bornstein?

  136. wilyboy says:

    No, Where’s Wondo?

  137. irant_irave says:

    The running CANDY CANES, ugh.

  138. Andy says:

I like it. It looks really good with the whole kit (shorts, numbers, etc.). I’ll be putting my pre-order in shortly.

  139. GJJ says:

I support Fulham and Celtic. I have no aversion to hoops, but these are awful. I’d also like to say that Nike shirts fit like a paper shopping bag. My Kappa Fulham shirt is far superior in terms of fit and feel.

  140. Matt says:

Please be a belated April Fools…

  141. Michael K San Diego says:

Oh oh, not for me – a fat guy. I’d scare small children and animals wearing this …

  142. fischy says:

I hated the sash. Me likey this look. I haven’t bought a USA jersey…ever. I might get this one.

  143. Josh says:

Jesus, You’ll complain about anything, and a big LOL to the “you’ve lost a customer” crowd. How self important can you get?

Hurr Durr…Dr. Suess, Waldo, Candy Cane. And a guffaw was had by all.

    Dig it.

  144. Mark says:

Why doesn’t Nike ever ask the US soccer community or the Fans, who are the ones who actually buy these jerseys, for some input?

I feel like the designers have probably never been to a soccer game ever, never mind a USA National Team game.

  145. Mark says:

Yeah, I never liked the fact that our crest is a corporate property, designed and trademarked by Nike.

We should use the Great Seal of the United States as our logo. Check it out here:

    link to en.wikipedia.org

  146. soccerjohn says:

Anyone else think these shirts are a blue flap in the back away from being English sailor’s shirts?

  147. BrendoCal says:

    Lolololol props for that one.

  148. Mike Caramba says:

That’s fine. Can’t argue with personal taste. I just don’t like when the next step is taken and people start pretending we’re the first bunch of idiots to don a sash or hoops. In two years from now, I already know what will happen. Nike will introduce a completely unrelated design (yet again), probably a chevron, and fans will say stuff like, “It looks like we’re wearing low-cut v-necks out there!!!”

  149. dgoshilla says:

Wow, these are terrible. Would you ever purchase this and wear it outside of your house?

  150. dgoshilla says:

The problem is there is no consistency to the look. Why is it that every country stays with a color/design and the US has to go wild with our jerseys? Pick a color and go with it.

  151. Dan says:

    Baylor is Adidas…

  152. abc says:

    This HAS a sash. UNFORTUNATELY.
(I like the sash but sash on top of horizontal stripes is terrible, these guys should consult someone with a modicum of fashion sense next time).

  153. Getrealtime19 says:

Finally something distinguishable about our kits from the rest of the Nat teams. Get rid of the sash. Yeah we pulled off one upset with it, then we’re pounded like bunny ranch girls on nickel night after that.

  154. biff says:

Oh, man, I was leaning toward not liking the jersey as I was reading down this thread but was trying to keep an open mind. But after clicking on your link and seeing Landon in it, I gotta say, it is a pretty darn silly looking jersey. With those thick horizontal stripes, looks like something only a 10-year-old kid would wear. I wonder how long it too the genius designers to come up with such a — ahem, ahem — “new” design and how much they were paid. Ridiculous. I betcha Klinsmann ain’t never gonna wear that shirt.

  155. Mike r says:

    Yuck !!!

If the USWNT wears these in a hospital they’ll be confused for candy stripe girls and will get some obscene offers…

  156. Ryan says:

I’m going to have to say, you must never have walked into an Urban Outfitters, American Eagle, Abercrombie, or any other major clothing retailer in the past decade. The horizontal stripes has been one of the most consistent designs in clothing for a while now. I think the problem is more with Dallas’ fan base than the Jerseys themselves.

  157. Ryan says:

Those were the most boring kits I’ve ever seen.

  158. Gon Darber says:

Dr Seuss pays mad sponsorship money, so does the Cat in the Hat.

  159. Ryan says:

    +1,000,000

  160. Ryan says:

I’m with you on this, except the soccer ball in the middle is lame. They could change that, right?

  161. pd says:

    Me too!

  162. Pd says:

Great metaphor; disagree with your point, but great metaphor.

  163. Dave says:

That’s the first thing i thought of. It *may* look good on the MNT, not my first choice of design, but hey. On the WNT, i think it will absolutely awful. The boobs combined with this design will make the gals look much thicker than they really are.

  164. dan says:

I like it and it makes us look unique out there.

The only thing I have to say tho is LETS KEEP SOMETHING CONSISTENT. I am tired of the constant changing, lets just have a design and make it ours already!

  165. Mike Caramba says:

Yeah, I totally agree with that.

  166. whoop-whoop says:

Have you considered that the reason you never see anyone wearing an FC dallas kits might have nothing at all to do with horizontal stripes? Just sayin’

  167. RNG says:

How long are we stuck with this jersey for? Does anyone know?

  168. GTV says:

Don’t like it. But if Klinsi can make us win, I’ll learn to like it.

    GTV

  169. Idiot says:

Oh. My. GOD. THAT IS SO FUNNNY!!1!!!!!1!

    I’ve NEVER heard that before.

  170. whoop-whoop says:

On the face I think it works. It’s a look w/ some tradition in the sport and with symbolism that matches and brings to mind our countries flag. That said- ain’t a designer in the world that is capable of dreaming up an instantly, universally beloved, iconic kit because what is MOST important has nothing to do with color schemes. It is what the team does while wearing it.

The only way to make a uniform become iconic is to become a team with a history of accomplishments with which to associate it with. In other words… it is not about the form itself, but the form symbolizing some thing, making you associate it with a tradition greatness and positive memories. Win a World Cup wearing it and a fond love of horizontal stripes will become damn near unanimous amongst USMNT fans.

  171. Kevin_Amold says:

    Yes

  172. El-DudeMan says:

only if kids mistakenly buy Dallas jerseys at some sporting goods store thinking it was a US National jersey. only pure black or full white would sell in dallas. hicks tend to think any men’s clothing w/color is for ***. really, they’re that ignorant

  173. 2tone says:

You do understand that the stars are in the logo. Stars above vertical stripes in the crest means you guessed it Stars and Stripes boys and girls. I agree though the ball needs to be taken out just leve the stars and stripes.

  174. 2tone says:

    So you like boring jerseys.

  175. louis z says:

don’t like it at all. it reminds of a bad segment of the movie beetle juice.

  176. Rob says:

    Candy Cane FC

    come on NIKE

  177. Andy says:

That we love America and we don’t give a damn if it’s tacky.

  178. JGD says:

Gotta hand it to Nike, they’re committed to that goddam sash.

I like this more than the new away kit. But still, why can’t we have this same material on a white jersey with a blue or red sash? Keep it simple, Nike.

  179. JGD says:

I like this as a 3rd kit, not the home kit.

  180. Mr. Maxican says:

someone start a facebook boycott. those work right?

  181. bryan says:

    whoops, ’07. good catch

  182. divers suck says:

Wow! Crap, it’s gonna look like a jailbreak!!!

  183. felipe says:

    nike swings……and a miss!

  184. RB says:

Sorry — not getting that message, myself.

I think our uniforms said we love and are proud of America just as much in the the last 2-3 WCs. There’s no need to simply copy the flag, or aspects of it, to have a jersey that indicates national (and team) pride.,

  185. bryan says:

So I was incorrectly told that the stars in the logo represent the women’s wold cups, however, I have failed to realize they have only won two, yet there are three stars. Knowing this now, I do agree the stars are a part of the logo and do not reprsent for wins. Whoops, should have verified that.

  186. Goob says:

AWFUL. Couldn’t pay me enough to wear one let alone have one in my closet.

  187. skyman says:

I agree 100% with you guys (Snare and Taylor). I live in Oregon and can’t stand what Nike does these uniform changes.

  188. uDaMan says:

I LOVE this jersey. I am definitely buying at least 2, to show my support.

I think the previous designs are BO-RINNNNNNG!!! Who wants to see a Blue / Blue or Blue / White or White / Blue main color design? Who wants it to have a few thin lines like the 2002 & 2006 jerseys? NOT ME!

The Red & White Stripes actually MEANS something. It is actually a play on our national flag. It is distinctive. Its a homage to the original 13 colonies. And to be frank I see tons of soccer jerseys when walking the streets. On game day or the next world cup. It be nice to say “Hey that person on the other end of the street thats a US supporter, not “oh he’s just wearing a red (or blue shirt).”

Everyone who doesn’t like this shirt, likes bo-ring blue / white instead.

  189. NC says:

    where’s waldo?

  190. ThaDeuce says:

ditto. and again when they release next year’s jersey a year from now and all the same people complaining about this one today are lamenting its loss and complaining about the new one. haha

  191. ThaDeuce says:

    hahahahaha

  192. ThaDeuce says:

i think they have in the past, maybe a few years ago.

  193. julio says:

since i hated the last one, can only be better… then i saw the faint sash and now i hate this one too.

Maybe ditching Nike is the only answer since the have NO idea how to design a classy soccer jersey

However, the women’s jersey was even worse than the mens so its an improvement for them

  194. julio says:

wonder if the pants are blue with stars? lol

  195. Andy says:

I guess that’s a fair point, but personally, even if I am in the vast minority, I like them, and I think they will look sweet on the field. I’d rather look exciting and a little wacky then boring and have our jerseys be forgettable.

Plus, copying the flag may not be more patriotic, but it certainly isn’t less so it couldn’t hurt. Also, I’m from Texas so we’re kind of obsessed with our flag so I’m used to seeing flag type things like this all the time. Got my Texas flag bow tie always at the ready.

  196. gregorio says:

We can all look like giant peppermints! On the other hand, it does evoke the stripes of our flag.

  197. MSNats says:

I’m from Mississippi and I happen to love the new kits.

  198. Brad says:

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

  199. Brad says:

We have got to start a petition to get rid of this.

  200. Jose says:

I think Dallas fans don’t have to buy jerseys they can use their shirts and pass it off as US National Team Jerseys. These are terrible. Nike has gone from bad to worse on the design of the jerseys. Too many changes too quickly, US Soccer needs an identity not all these quick changes. How are we supposed to be taken seriously when our boys will be wearing this???

  201. hudson says:

The players will be demoralized before they even take the pitch wearing these yankee doodle dandy outfits. Advice to Nike: Just keep it simple stupid.

  202. beachbum says:

    butt ugly

    wtf?

  203. beachbum says:

    hoops? butt freakin’ ugly

  204. CornerKickBackFlip says:

These are real jerseys! First US jersey I’d be proud to wear and 1st one to be distinctive.

No offense, but something that is “identifiable” with the country. When I see Argentina / Brazil / Croatia / Peru / Uruguay. Those are amazing kits. Very identifiable. When I see Plain White with / Blue Shorts, that could be anyone, England / Holland / France / Indianapolis Colts / Old NY Giants / Buffalo Bills / old Washington Bullets (1980-90s) … “ANYONE” really. This is first uniform worth writing home about.

  205. EastBayGrease says:

    Where’s Wondo

    lowski

  206. Bob says:

If this didn’t have the watermarked sash, I’d buy it. Personally, the sash has always been a non-starter in my purchasing considerations, so I guess I will continue to rock my 2009 Confed Cup/2010 WCQ jerseys.

  207. Sol says:

I dont like them. I like the unified idea for the men & women’s team. However, the women’s 2011 FIFA jersey wasnt “hot” like the 2007/2008 jerseys.

This jersey would be nicer if it had maybe incorporated stars on the sleeves. I think its time fans give their input and for Nike to listen.

The jerseys are getting uglier as soccer is becoming more popular in the USA for once.

    Cmon Nike, you’re reaching

  208. Sam says:

Yeah, you’re right about those awful bball jerseys, my bad…but I remembered they wore Nike in football and just assumed it was still Nike…strange, I guess they changed between sports seasons.

  209. jrig5 says:

Just so we’re clear, you realize Nike designs jerseys for many, many European club teams (as well as other national teams)? Arsenal/Barca, just to name two off the top of my head without trying very hard?

  210. JP priela says:

This one is my most favorite kit for the US national football team..I hope they keep the stripe design on the future kits design….
