I was reminded of MLS. Lots of effort, occasional quality, and several hilarious errors. Still, there was much entertainment.

Um, maybe Yakubu should no longer take penalties for Blackburn? Both of those were terrible, he’s lucky the second one wasn’t blocked as well.
Is officiating in the EPL supposed to be whimsical? Yellow card for the goalie shoving a player to the ground with no defenders anywhere to be seen. F U EPL, you are a joke.
I agree. Looked like two red cards on Liverpool goalies in one match to me.

the ball was played by jones over to a liverpool player, so the obvious goalscoring oppurtunity criteria was not met, hence no red card. and the ‘no defenders anywhere’ statement is false. watch the replay and see who recieves the ball from jones.

He was going toward the goal and a penalty kick was rewarded. There was not a defender in the box for Liverpool besides the goalie. Getting the ball a yard from goal is about as clear a goal scoring opportunity as a player can have. If the goalie doesn’t shove him it is a tap in goal.

Blackburn tied it up, got conservative & played for a draw instead of the win. They deserved to lose. Up a man with half the game remaining….amazing.
