The Portland Timbers wrapped up their preseason camp in Carson, California on Wednesday with a win that improved them to 3-0-1 during their time there.
Portland recorded a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Fire in the last preseason match of its training camp at the Home Depot Center. Eric Alexander and Jorge Perlaza scored in the rainy, 120-minute game off feeds from Franck Songo'o to hand the Fire its first loss in five preseason matches.
During their time in California, the Timbers outscored their opponents 8-1 and did not give up a goal in the final three matches.
Here are the match highlights as well as other results from the MLS preseason:
SOUNDERS DEFEAT CREW IN 120-MINUTE MATCH
The Seattle Sounders recorded the first victory in their preseason by beating the Columbus Crew, 2-0, in a game that was made up of two 45-minute halves and one 30-minute period. The goals came from Fredy Montero and Cordell Cato in the match played at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida on Wednesday. Montero opened the scoring in the 54th minute, and Cato gave the Sounders an insurance goal six minutes before the final whistle.
FC DALLAS SMASHES SMU
FC Dallas saw four different players find the back of the net on Wednesday night, as the Hoops won their friendly over Southern Methodist University (SMU) in a big way. Andrew Wiedeman and Blas Perez found the back of the net in the first half, and Jeison Quinonez and Bryan Leyva scored in a six-minute span in the second to lift FC Dallas to a 4-0 win. The game was played at the Mustangs' Westcott Field.
