The German Bundesliga kicks back into full gear this weekend, and with it could come a direct head-to-head duel between a pair of U.S. men's national team players.

Steve Cherundolo and Fabian Johnson could do battle when Hannover 96 and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim resume their Bundesliga campaigns on Saturday. Should Cherundolo start, he would be given the assignment of marking the creative Johnson, who is likely to be deployed at left back or on the left side of the midfield.

Another match with intrigue for American fans is Tottenham Hotspur's road game versus league-leading Manchester City. Brad Friedel will aim for his third shutout in the club's last four league games as he and the Spurs try to cut the the five-point deficit City currently holds. For that to happen, a big performance will be needed from Friedel against the likes of Sergio Aguero and David Silva.

Zak Whitbread will also be assigned with containing a star-studded offense when Norwich City faces Chelsea. Whitbread will be aiming to make his tenth appearance of the season in a game the Canaries enter as the underdogs.

Here is who the Americans Abroad play this weekend:

  8. jjzaps says:

robbie rogers got his work permit for Leeds. Any chance he gets named for Sat? And if he got his permit, and so did Bedoya at Rangers, I would think Ream would have an excellent chance.

  9. abc says:

Still not sure why that new dual national from Aston Villa doesn’t get mentioned in these when Potts and Henley do make the cut….

  10. ChelseaFC says:

At least Henley has an American parent. Potts is British through and through. He just has an American passport.

  11. b says:

He has American citizenship, that makes him as American as anyone else who only has regular citizenship and not super duper elite exclusive 110% true American “f-yeah!” Chevy Budweiser and Wrangler premium citizenship.

As far as being “British through and through” is concerned, he has accepted US ynt camp call ups in the past so he might disagree with your assessment.

    BRA-F’IN-VO on that response!

Usually one has to wait for post 100+ to get a reasonable response. Thank you for bucking that trend on this very Friday morning.
