Another week, another new No. 1 team atop the Fox Soccer/SBI NCAA Top 25.

The University of Connecticut is the latest to claim the top spot after beating Boston College Tuesday night to improve to 7-0 on the season. That result, combined with previous No. 1 Maryland being held to a scoreless draw by Seton Hall has boosted the Huskies to the top spot.

UCLA is back into the top 10 after its win over West Coast rival UCSB last weekend, and a slew of new teams have broken into the rankings, including unbeaten New Mexico, which played No. 6 Akron to a draw, and UNC Charlotte, which improved to 6-1 after consecutive wins over Virginia and Clemson.

Here are the latest Fox Soccer/SBI Top 25 rankings:

  1. Eric says:

Disappointing that Maryland gets knocked down a peg after a match with a team that had no interest in winning.

(SBI-Disappointed in what, Maryland’s inability to break down Seton Hall? Good teams deal with bunker ball all the time. Either get the results or deal with it. UConn is a deserving No. 1 right now. Doesn’t mean Maryland won’t win it all, or won’t be No. 1 again soon, but for right now UConn gets the nod.)

  2. JW (Terps fan) says:

If it were the postseason, that result would have meant pens against a team we should have beaten handily. UConn deserves top spot right now.

  3. Chyeah says:

It was pretty terrible to watch. Everytime Maryland had the ball, Seton Hall just dropped all 11 men behind and cleared it out.

  4. dan says:

Creighton is 7-0-0 after last night’s 2-0 victory over Kentucky

(SBI-Right, and records in our Top 25 are thru Tuesday.)

  5. John says:

And Elmar is still looking up at Carolina. I’m guessing that new bulge in his wallet eases the pain some though.

  6. Dakota Sillyman says:

ETSU! I’ve played with several of their players, and they are all great guys. Rooting for them to continue this great run of form.

  7. jason says:

I would have thought Santa Clara would at least get an honorable mention. Their only loss is to New Mexico, they tied UCLA and blew out Cal. San Jose St. tie not a great result on Thursday, so I suspect they won’t be breaking into your rankings next week.
