The Vancouver Whitecaps' two 2011 first-round draft picks connected for an early goal, leading the club to a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes in MLS Reserve League play on Tuesday.
Michael Nanchoff chipped over the defense toward Omar Salgado, who finished with a left-footed shot from the top of the box in the 11th minute for the only tally of the match.
The goal was Salgado's fourth in the Reserve League for Vancouver (2-4-2), which puts him in a tie with three other players for second-most behind Chicago's Cristian Nazarit, who has five goals.
Among the starters for San Jose (3-3-1) were Bobby Convey and Simon Dawkins, who each played the first half.
Highlights from the match and another Reserve League result are after the jump:
CHICAGO 2, REAL SALT LAKE 0
Nazarit and Diego Chaves each scored in the opening 25 minutes to lift the Chicago Fire to a win over Real Salt Lake.
Nazarit unloaded on a shot from the top of the area to open the scoring in the 14th minute before Chaves tallied on a penalty kick to close the scoring 11 minutes later for the Fire (5-1-1), who are in first place in the Reserve League's Central Division.
Real Salt Lake (2-5-0) had five players issued cautions while Chicago had four in a card-laden match.
