    What the hell A.J.?!

  4. "Sound" Familiar says:

    ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐

To all the Sounders Haters. We own LA in the Open Cup.

    Please sub out Birtchell…he blows

  7. chris says:

Yeah the open cup only, not that impressive.

  8. Jackson says:

Shredded by Nate Jacqua…Good job LA

  9. chris says:

If you think this trophy matters you have problems.

  10. EJ says:

Gets you in next year’s CCL. What more do you want?

  12. Fern says:

    too late!

  13. Travis says:

The only people who hate on trophies are those who do not win them. Granted the Open Cup is not the most major trophy for MLS teams but it is still a trophy that many teams would gladly take.

  14. Scott A says:

I’m scoffing at your comment chris.

  15. Katatonia says:

and i thought rico’s comment was crap

  16. Tohoya says:

We’re in this year’s CCL, but not next year’s, which is what this tournament qualifies you for.

And even if we were already guaranteed a CCL spot, the trophy itself matters. If the rest of the league doesn’t care about the longest continually awarded championship in American sport, the most tangible link to American soccer’s past that has borne the names of some of the greatest sides in American history, including the club from which came the lion’s share of the players on the legendary 1950 US National Team, their loss.

  17. Grant says:

I believe that Seattle’s strange obsession with the USOC has cost them the last two years in MLS play and my fear is that this will be the case once again. Especially now that the CCL is on the schedule as well.

  18. Mikey says:

Not to mention the Sounders could make their mark in history to be the first team to win 3 Open Cup championships in a row. The fact that no one has done that in almost 100 years is pretty amazing.

    It’s worth the pursuit.

  19. Mikey says:

They’re the only expansion team to make the playoffs in the first two years. Losing in the first round of playoffs has nothing to do with USOC play.

Would love to understand your logic though.
