USA wins tomorrow 3-0 on goals from Bradley, Dempsey and Altidore
Is everyone excited about MLS this weekend? What do you think the chances are of there being a game that’s not either a tie (most likely 0-0) or 1-0? I’m going to be the eternal optimist and say there will be two this weekend! Yes, yes, I know I’m crazy.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA!
Thanks for the laugh. That’s a good one. Just out of curiosity, when was the last time you saw the U.S. play?
FC Dallas is going to give it to Chivas tonight, that won’t be a tie.
Your name, it is broken.
Three gold cup games are under investigation by FIFA for potential match-fixing: link to spiegel.de
Did they put down grass for the USMNT friendlies at The Meadowlands? I can’t remember. Curious to see if this pitch sucks as bad…
Yeah they did
Actually, it’s not. It’s tongue in cheek. Thank you for your concern though.
I hope you are right, but if the recent past MLS games are anything to go by, Dallas will take a 1-0 lead and then “give” Chivas a draw.
It’s laughable because everyone knows it’ll be 5-0 to the US
I’m not really up on who the good referees are, but it seems like Roberto Moreno generally does a decent job.
Wow, Honduras looks great. Definitely have come out on the front foot. On another subject, I’m having a severe moral dilemma. I want the Mexican U-17s to lose, but they’re playing North Korea haha
Wait, doesn’t Mexico NEVER lose at home to anyone? Would be a much higher comedy factor if they lost to North Korea as tourney hosts.
i dont get what’s so ridiculous about that prediction. We are capable of blowing out Jamaica just like how Jamaica is capable of blowing us out. The parody of CONCACAF. Jamaica aint no Spain.
Oh is your schtick tired out.
Maybe if there were five own goals.
Follow the advice of your name, and lighten up while your at it.
Jamaica has not beaten the US in the seventeen games they’ve played one another.
I think it is acceptable to root for Mexico, Lebron, or even Man U against North Korea. Drawing the line at Manson, the KGB or the KKK
link to mediotiempo.com
The three games in question are Mexico- El Salvador, Cuba- Costa Rica & Jamaica-Grenada.
So much controversy to such a small competition.
Alright Man U is too far, I would never root for them. It doesn’t matter who they play, I’d draw the line at Satan.
i guess im in the minority here but football and politics should be separated. I was rooting for North Korea not because of their lunatic dictator, but because i like a hardworking underdog team
and they were playing against mexico haha
that Portillo guy of Honduras is a disgrace to the game. Diving scum.
One could have made similar comments about the US v. Panama (no losses) or the US in Gold Cup group play (no losses)….before last weekend. [Of course, BB seemed to have forgotten tactically that our recent Gold Cup history with Panama was an overtime game, a PK game, and a 2-1 squeaker....]
Based on finishing ahead of Honduras and Guatemala the Jamaicans have to be taken seriously, and based on our forward and backline performance I can’t take anything for granted.
Ref totally nailed that idioy with a yellow card for diving (and almost took him out in the process)
I was about to post the same thing. Seeing that made me sick to my stomach.
This is beyond embarrassing with Honduras and all their diving and flopping. Pathetic.
Who does he think he is? Bedoya?
LaVolpe made a mistake in letting Saborio take the penalty. He’s in very poor form at RSL, and his confidence is way down.

link for the Galaxy and Fire games.
if all that unsportsmanlike stalling Honduras did before the PK had caused Sabo to lose some of his focus, it sure paid off like a charm
Saborio is having a nightmare.
I was just thinking Ruiz was looking a lot older than I remembered and then he scores.
Ruiz with a brilliant goal…very much his standard…wow…fun to watch…Mexico’s D and goalie caught napping…
Great finish from El Pescadito!
oh snap. Mexico lets one in 6 min in. Bad defending.
mexico with the dynamite USMNT impression giving up the early goal.
Goal Ruiz! I love strikers who just need that one chance and they put it away! Give me a healthy CD9 or Cletus in his prime on the USA squad anytime!
Hey, he’s my age! Way to make me feel over the hill.
I’m glad Honduras won. They will drive Mexico crazy with their flopping, diving, etc
In return, Mexico will beat them 5-0
in a game where you dislike both teams, who do you root for?
No it’s obviously the coaches fault for bad preparation, right?
Hale-Bopp
If Guatemala can hold onto this I will forgive them for what they did to our young’uns
It’s not about the size of the competition. Read Declan Hill’s “The Fix” and you’ll understand that the illegal gambling occuring (mostly in East Asia, but certainly not exclusively) is fixing competitions worldwide.
For example, a friendly between world soccer powers Canada and Macedonia saw 4 penalties and “irregular betting patterns”. So if they’re willing to fix a friendly by those two teams, certainly they’d be willing to fix the Gold Cup.
are they gonna try to sit on this for 75 minutes??? ain’t gonna happen. gotta at least pretend to have an offense.
The match fixing thing looks stupid… So large sums of money were bet when strong teams took on the likes of Cuba, international powerhouse. People rponably just figured Mexico was loaded in comparison to weak concacaf opposition.
Go guatemala!
right, if the plan was to get one in and then put all of their players behind the ball, they probably didn’t expect it to happen so soon.
If there were unusual betting patterns then it most certainly was not just alot of people betting on the heavily favored teams. More likely it was heavy bets on the exact scores
hahaha I see what you did there!
You may be right, didn’t see in the story where itmentioned exact scores were the ones paying out.
It won’t matter anyway, Mexico is losing this game and USA will win tomorrow to knock out all offenders.
I think they want you to think that so that when they fix this one people won’t suspect it as much. If Mexico loses you’ll know it was fixed. Mexico is too good to fall to Guatemala.
he kind of blew that one – he had lots of help
I wonder what kind of odds there were for Guatemala scoring first in tonight’s game?
Oh my God, my U-14 kids that I coach could have done better with that 4 on 2 that Guatemala.
lol, Sorry. Well he’s only a few years older than me, but when I saw him right before his goal, I had the quick thought that he looked older than I thought he was or what I remembered. And if it makes you feel better he’s about the same age as Cherundolo and Bocanegra, who are both looking great.
@ bradley hater and @ supsam.
ROFL. darn it Ives we need to have a “like” button feature on SBI’s
mexico fans, feel our pain!!!! hold it guatemala, better chances on the counter!!!
Mexico kinda looks gassed
I havent seen any specifics either but I cant imagine lots of bets on Mexico over Cuba would be considered unusual
Ruiz backed up into that one…a butt bump
That’s pretty damn funny. +1
maybe only have 17 guys or whatever is catching up to them?
Guatemala! Si se puede! I hope my little chapines can at least give them a good scare!
I think they’ve already accomplished that
from the replay, you can see Torrado slamming his knee into the back of Ruiz’s knee. Owch, been a victim of that before. Typical hard play from Torrado though
yeah – I just thought it looked funny in the replay.
El Escremento!
Yeah Wondo just needs that one chance…to sky it over the net.
not as funny as when Clark kicked Ruiz while he was faking injury on the ground. All of MLS smiled that day.
Mexico still likely to get a goal. But this is a lesson to the xbox fifa generation. In soccer you don’t win every game. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes you deserve to win and lose. Sometimes bad things just happen. Soccer ain’t that easy. Stuff happens. Beating a crap teams 5-0 doesn’t mean anything. So the U.S. had a bad game v. Panama. It happens. So our team sucks and our coach sucks? soccer is way more complex and cruel than that. More than likely US will win, and be the better team tomorrow. But who knows what the soccer gods have to say about it
How can they be gassed? They last played on Sunday, 6 days ago.
Keep in mind if the US goes to the final, they will play essentially 3 games in 6 days (Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday). Now that will be tough.
Fredy Montero wins it at the death for 10 man Seattle vs Toronto!!!!!!!!!!!
Just like in life, tournament squads have peaks and valleys. You have to peak at the right time.
DAMN. the end
did any player get a card for that scuffle? Guardado deserved one for escalating everything with that shove.
And that tackle on Marquez was almost – if not – red card worthy.
No and Torrado really should have gotten a red for the repeats. Gautemala player should have gotten a red for his tackle on Marquez thought.
agree with both statements. A little surprised no one was carded during that scuffle. And my first thought was it was going to be a red for the tackle on Marquez. Spikes up into the shin. Maybe the ref doesn’t want to give a red in a game like this unless he absolutely has to.
Giovanni dos santos can definetly pass as a females
Panama looks better than Guatamala, so at least I don’t feel so bad…
WOW! If he meant to do that I’m impressed!
Guatamala doesn’t have another goal in them…. crap…
He did
damn, 2-1 mexico. about 25 minutes left.
He meant to do that, certainly. score goals – or nearly scored goals – like that all season at United.
Nice goal out of Chicharito.
Really lame effort from Guatamala for the last 60ish minutes, though.
Casey Nogueira and Gio look like they could have been separated at birth
[and apparently she has been told this before]
Rafa is lucky he still has a leg.
yellow for Rafa
la selecion de mexico es la pejor de toda mundo. gano de un gol no mas. Terrible. (sarcasm)
Guatemala looked horrible. Not impressed with Mexico at all, the first goal was an atrocious error by the Guatemalean keeper.
Let’s go US!
What was expected has happened, tomorrow let’s keep it happening!!!
Yeah OK Francois?
Were you impressed when Mexico beat France in the WC Francois? Probably not!
Sorry to dissapoint you Francois
The worst Mex in the whole tourney still manages a win, and most importantly has it’s two centre forward score.
That says a lot!
Here’s hoping Alt and Dempsey do the same tomorrow!!!
Mexico 16-2 Opposition
Enough said!
I’m extremely disappointed with the US lately. Rooting for Jamaica o that we can finally get that coaching change. There’s no way this team can beat Mexico.
I’m not French man haha I love how quickly people jump to conclusions. I simply made an observation, anybody who says they are impressed by this performance is kidding themselves. However, they did well to come back and get a result despite not playing well.
I’m disappointed with our fans. It doesn’t how much I dislike having BB in charge would appreciate a change, I will never root against my team. Its similar to the way Man U fans handled their ownership situation a few years ago, they made their opinions known, yet continued to support their club. I wish more USMNT ‘fans’ had the same loyalty.
And*
Mexico won as they were expected to. It can’t be 5-0 every game, and they had to come back after a mistake that led to an early goal against. Guatemala showed a lot of spunk but just not enough skill.
I think Mexico is still the favorite to get the trophy.
Go USA tomorrow! One step at a time.
How sad…you should be ashamed…
Thats not cool, its one thing to want change but to wish for our team to lose to get this change disgusts me… You can root for change without rooting for our team to fail.
Wasn’t that first Mex goal a foul on the header that set up that whole scramble? It looked like he was riding on his shoulders and going for a double over the back boob grab.
where are your priorities? For real fans, its always USMNT first, then everything else like managment and player selection comes way way afterwards in importance.
Im not a USMNT fan because of the coach they have. Im not a USMNT fan because of Davies/Altidore/Donovan/whoever. Im a USMNT fan because they are my national team. As long as they represent my country on the field, i will support regardless of circumstances
Im surprised no one has brought up the Davies dive. Lets see if that kind of play will impress Bob Bradley to call you up, Davies. That’s his second PK goal that rooted from a blatant dive. I really do wish that MLS had a committee to review and punish players who blatantly dive.
Well said. Plus I don’t think BB gets fired even if they do lose.
Yes it was.
According to some Mexican analysts, Mexico has been digressing a little not because of the 2-1 score but because of the way they have been defending against the counter attack.Pappa should have made it 2-0. The speculation is fatigue. Mexico is the favorite in the Honduras game. But I have a feeling, even if Mexico wins, the game is going to take a lot out of the Mexican players because it will be very physical match.
These investigators aren’t stupid. They know what they’re looking for when they see these betting patterns.
Mexico and El Salvador 0-0 at the half. All of the sudden during halftime millions of dollars being bet in Asia that Mexico will win by 5. This is hypothetical, of course, but those are the types of wagers that would draw attention.
In the Argentina and Nigeria friendly, an insane amount of money was placed in the last 10 minutes that a 5th goal would be scored. The referee incorrectly awarded a penalty in the 8th minute of overtime.
injury time*
Being that Honduras had a grueling match vs Costa Rica, I think neither team has a “fitness” advantage, if anything Mexico should be more rested come Wednesday or about even. Let’s not forget el TRI’s most demanding match last Gold Cup came vs Costa Rica in the semis, a real high quality thriller that could’ve gone either way if not for a spectacular performance by Carlos Vela.
It will be close!
Do you realize no one cares what you think or are you just that self centered? I guess that’s what happens when you’re a teenager though. Oh and good comeback.
