If the Copa Libertadores was Neymar's final perfomance for Santos, he certainly left on a high note.

The much-sought-after transfer target scored the opening goal to lead Santos to a 2-1 victory over Penarol Wednesday night in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final. The Libertadores championship is the third for the Brazilian club but the first since Pele's playing days back in 1963.

Danilo added the second goal for Santos before an own-goal sliced Penarol's deficit in half. The two teams had played to a scoreless draw in the first leg.

The celebration after the match was marred by an all-out brawl between the two sides.

Video highlights of the match and brawl are after the jump:

What else is there to say about this 19yr old Boy Wonder? Hopefully the story will continue to get better and you gotta admit it’s kinda fitting that Pele’s old club has finally produced a magical player just in time as Brazil prepares for the 2014 World Cup.

Now THAT was a brawl. Leave it to soccer players the fight with their feet. I saw a couple impressive flying kicks in there that Liu Kang would have been proud of.

    Jail?

  4. COCaribou says:

Wow, at the 1:30 mark that Penarol player pulls out his best De Jong.

  5. Euro-bore says:

Now the obvious…Either Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester, or Chelsea will pick this guy up…

  6. Chris says:

I love Neymar doing the “Hold me back man, hold me back” and jarring at the Penarol players from behind two guys at 0:58 of the second video. As good as he is at soccer, I can’t see him doing well in a fight!

    or the Columbus Crew

  8. JP says:

To be fair with the Penarol players, they were provoked first by a Santos fan on the field first.

Cool thing is after that brawl they returned to the field and gladly took their second place medals and shook hands with Santos players. I guess what happens on the field, stays on the field.

It’d be neat to see Neymar, Ganso and cia take on Messi, Xavi and Iniesta at the club world cup… If Santos is able to hold on to its stars that long…

  9. Paul says:

    Guillermo, where are you???

  10. DC Josh says:

Penarol have a history of being sore losers. But that was one hell of a brawl!

I hope Neymar goes to England. The players, coaches, fans, and media will loathe his diving antics and HOPEFULLY he will stop diving so much.
