The English Premier League title will go a long way toward being decided today when Manchester United plays host to Chelsea at Old Trafford.
A Manchester United win would all but lock up the title for United, while a Chelsea victory would put the Blues in the driver's seat with three matches remaining.
England isn't the only place with top-quality match-ups. In France, Lyon takes on Marseille, while Corinthians faces off against Santos in the Brazilian League playoffs.

come on chelsea! come on chelsea! come one chelses!!
come on pacos de ferreira! come on pacos de ferreira! come one pacos de ferreira!
I hate both Chelsea and Man U, but as a Liverpool fan I must say, Go Chelsea
Happy Mother’s Day and a round of applause to the Navy Seals
O/T but I’m praying for a Clint Dempsey hat-trick tomorrow. Wouldn’t it be outrageous if he scored like 5-6goals in the remaining 3 games of the season
Matt Taylor just signed with a 2 Bundesliga team. He had 17goals in 29matches in the 3 Bundesliga. Yes that’s sorta semi-pro but it still counts. Congrats to him. He’s 30, so he may not have a shot with the NT but it’s good that he is doing well
Well some are already grooming Matt Taylor for a NT place. We have Altidore, Agudelo, Bunbury, Gomez and Buddle. Enough for a Gold Cup victory for sure. Though I believe it’s best if we left Agudelo and Bunbury for the u-23 for a while/
Of the five players you listed, Agudelo and Bunbury are the best. Why does everyone believe a)Altidore is an automatic starter for the USMNT and B) that he has demonstrated the consistency and form to earn that spot
Altidore and Bradley are kind of in the same boat, producing just enough for the NT, while not producing or not playing for club.
Apparently Adu had a good game in a win, scored a header.
buddle scored a good goal today for ingolstadt 04
Arsenal defends set peices like a u-12 team..
3rd goal in 14 matches. Why did he head to Ingolstadt in the first place? Did they really offer him more cash than the Galaxy?
I suppose since he has the experience. Agudelo and Bunbury are young hotshots but still relatively raw. Best to let them shine through the u-20, u-23. Gomez should be brought as a super-sub. Buddle, I’m unsure if he’ll be there. Maybe Davies
You’ve just insulted every eleven year old on the planet.
Seems like Adu has had a productive spell (albeit in Turkey 2nd division) given his recent club history. Hope he’s done enough to make a permanent move somewhere and achieve some stability.
Oh yes. Much more.
After seeing the highlights of the West Brom-Wolves game, I should have said they defend set pieces like West Brom.
And one of them would be me. Gomez does nothing for me when comparing his play to Taylor from both the 2.BL and most recently 3.BL. Altidore also has done nothing of late too impressive-fizzled out, and his touch is like a rock.
The headline in today’s Kicker magazing reads: Buddles Glücksschuss beendet die 1860-Serie
or
Buddle’s lucky goal ends the 1860 game.
Stoke keeper should have stopped that Arsenal goal
but doesn’t matter now that Stoke scored again
Arsenal ha.
Even if he was offered more money, 2.BL quality of play is equal to or better than MLS.
Horrid clearance by Arsenal on that Stoke goal.
Buddle’s been injured on and off, but he has played well and contributed when he’s had the chances.
Bad final weeks to the season if you’re an Arsenal fan. They’ve looked worse than Chamakh’s haircut, which is really saying something.
12 vs. 11. Chelsea will have their hands full today.
holy crap…what a start
bring in torres for terry…what a joke he is now. should have sold him to citeh for the moon 2 years ago
Adu scores yet again
20 goals in an EPL season. That is one scary mexican.
Wicked strike by Rooney from distance and terrific save by Cech.
agreed. ManU + Howard Webb = 12
Praying? For a hat-trick?
OMG.
He’s going to give me intestinal disturbances during the Gold Cup. Make one mistake and he’ll zip in. Not flashy but quick and annoying. Not afraid to dive either. He won’t be fun for our backline to face, not at all.
Clearly, he’s the next Wayne Rooney.
“Still counts”? I don’t know what that means. In what sense? Counts like the goals I scored in grade school? He had a great season…at a fairly low level of pro soccer.
I forget this ref’s name, but I’m really glad he’s caling the Manchester United vs Chelsea game..
VIDIC!!!!!!!!! 2-0 TO THE RED DEVILS, BABY!!!!
Move over Liverpool…Trophy #19 coming to Man U
howard webb
do you need to go to the bathroom? Your comments reek of constipation.
I challenge this comment.
Thanks. I think he’s a solid ref.. He knows Rooney’s antics like the back of his hand ha-ha
he knows Rooney with the front of his hand
The commentators on FSC aren’t giving Chelsea enough credit. Chelsea are playing just fine! I think it’s just that Manchester is just absolutely en fuego right now. Van Der Saar is the only reason Manchester are up 2-0 in this game, to be honest.
Luiz leaned into that challenge to draw the foul. Good job, bro.. You drew the yellow card.
Ivanovic just got away with murder… Bad call from the ref to not hand out his second yellow.
Ingolstadt are owned by AUDI were relegation bound when Buddle joined team. they opened up the check book and signed Buddle. Not sure how much they gave him, but I believe the Galaxy were not willing to go higher than 800K, and for a relegation threatened 2. Bundesliga team with a rich daddy, that is a drop in the bucket. AUDI wasn’t about to go down to 3. Bundesliga. Buddle hasn’t scored many goals, but his play has helped the team move up into safety. I have also read that the other players are happy to have him.
lol
Hopefully it is becoming more clear to all of the people who were ragging on Torres that he clearly became the scapegoat for a much larger problem.
Bluntly put, this team sucks.
but Howard Webb is, like, a huge Manchester United fan. He basically wears a United shirt unter his own and always calls his games in their favor. Ask anybody. It’s a fact.
@ K-Town – That statement is spot on. I have read and heard the same, to include the coaches satisfaction with the addition of Buddle and how it has helped them stay afloat.
Ancelotti’s decision is to take off David Luiz and Mikel?
Hello! You need to score goals.
@ Maka: Challenge all you want. It’s nice to see your pride in the MLS. I am slowly buying into MLS since moving from Germany, but am not fully sold.
Watch some 2.BL and even 3.BL matches someday and compare them to MLS, and you will liken it to technical calm vs. un-organized chaos.
Park = Man of Match so far. Created 4 goal-scoring opportunities of which two were converted, and was all over the ball in defense-nice take-aways.
2 Bundesliga is pretty much even with League 1 in England imo & MLS is like some League 1, some championship, & then LA & NY who could compete with bottom EPL teams so I would not agree with that statement overall. Like you said, Buddle has done well when he has been in & the manager said he only likes to use him at home games for some reason. 3 goals in 13 games is good looking at the service and support he probably gets at this club. He went from getting great service from Donovan, Beckham, & Juninho to Ingoldstadt who has a hard time measuring up to that. Buddle is my 6th favorite on the ST depth chart but he definately has a case as to why he hasnt been as succesful. I still think the transfer was a bad one & hope to see him elsewhere soon tbh.. Found it hard to believe a better Euro club didnt want him.
God watching Chelsea is painful.
All of the midfielders think they’re forwards, and none of the forwards except Drogba touch the ball.
Chelsea’s offense consists of two things.
1. A long ball to Drogba who almost always shoves someone to the ground because he is “physical” and kicks the ball as hard as possible.
2. A midfield player launches a 25+ yard shot.
Whoever said that Howard Webb is clearly in favor of Man U obviously hasn’t been watching this match. Chelsea should be down a man after Ivanovic’s second tackle on Rooney. Now they just missed a pretty obvious handball by Lampard that should have been a penalty. His arm wasn’t in a neutral location, it was raised and away from his body and was the only thing that stopped that cross from getting into the box.
Yeah, that’s been clearly displayed by the disallowed hand ball in the box, and Ivanovic not getting a second yellow. You sure that bit of red isn’t a Liverpool uniform?
+1 precisely!
@ McPH; Good and valid points. However, I would offer after attending the KC-Manchester United friendly last summer, ManU was clearly not even in pre-season form, while KC was in the middle of the season (it was surely a fun match-no doubt-Bunbury was awesome-earned praise from SAF), so if we were to see an MLS club in pre-season form play an EPL club during the EPL mid-season that is a “fragile” assumption. Even when NYRB travel to Arsenal this summer to participate in the Emarites Cup, my money is on NYRB to take the trophy as they are in mid-season and great form. Play that same match in October and Arsenal wipes up NYRB.

It doesn’t matter. He’s called a clearly unbiased game. If anything, Chelsea should count themselves more fortunate than Manchester United.
Have to say, as a Liverpool fan, we got rid of Torres just in time…he’s looked terrible again.
you are correct, of course. Chelsea can have no complaints about Mr. Webb today
And there is the Howard Webb – United bias.
I think the United defender actually tried to catch that out of the air to stop the goal. Wow.
And what about Lampard’s hand ball in the box?
Jeez, this is some pretty shameful time wasting from United. Howard Webb lets Giggs talk his way out of a yellow card. WTF
There had better be like 5 minutes of added time after this last 20 minutes.
I’d be shocked if there’s more than 3-it’s Fergie and he’s ahead.
Only 4 minutes?!?
Wow not surprising at all.
JS Park = man of the match
SUCK IT, CHELSEA FANS. NOT GOOD ENOUGH TODAY.
right on, brother.
Yeah SUCK IT! HAhahahaha!
let’s not talk about arsenal. i might be sick
where are the people that said that chicharito only taps!! it in? His finishing was class.
Yeah, 1 in 4 isn’t all that bad, depending on the minutes.
Chicharito deserves the Premier League Player of the Year. My God he’s TALENTED
your comparing Arsenal & United with MLS teams while I just said EPL teams….put Bundesliga 2 sides up against those likes and they probly wouldnt tie even on their better form. Top EPL teams are irrelevant though because I obviously wasnt saying NY & LA are near that caliber. However, they would certainly be equal to teams like Wolves, Blackpool, & Wigan…perhaps even better. Closer to a West Ham or Blackburn.
actually semi-pro should be held in less regard to acutual pro teams. fischy is right. I’ll even go the extra mile and suggest that Adu goals > Taylor’s goals.
Gimme a break. He was one-on-one with Cech after a good through-ball by Park (and a mis-timed lunge by David Luiz).
Hernandez has good instincts and great goal-scoring record so far, but I’m not going to use that goal as evidence of anything more than a tidy finish off of a giveaway.
You sure do whine a lot about Hernandez.
Definitely signing of the year but not player of the year I would go with Vidic
I said he’s effective, quick, a handful to defenses, and crafty. I wish I could whine about our strikers like that.
yeah yeah hater. 1st season and 20 goals what else you expect?
Is it just me or have some posts on SBI become more and more idiotic / ridiculously biased in recent months? My brain is melting after reading some of the things said on here.
+2,000
And the same goes for any 2.BL or 3.BL team too. You make the MLS sound as if it is the second coming of Jesus Christ. We got a long way to go..
Name names!
