lol 39 secs maxi rodriguez scores for liverpool. i smell a 4-0.

  2. wildchild says:

an awful start. the keeper really screwed the pooch on the second goal: was he scared of the ball?!!!

  3. qwerty says:

    2-0 livepool

  4. harp says:

im turning it off, ill check demsey’s stats later.

  5. Adrian says:

Liverpool is doing bad, bad things to Fulham.

  6. Adrian says:

    Dempsey throws an elbow :(

He is turning into such a thug. It’s really hard to even want to see him succeed anymore.

  7. wildchild says:

    pull the keeper

  8. aristophanes says:

    HA! What is happening?

  9. Adrian says:

Liverpool denied a clear, clear penalty.

Horrible decision… wow. Haangeland puts his forearm into Suarez who beats him in the box and shoves him down.

  10. wildchild says:

    what’s your seeing-eye dog’s name?

  11. chris says:

Is that a joke? I don’t think you have seen an elbow. The one tab ramos took is an elbow

  12. J says:

Yeah, that was an intentional elbow. His arm was well away from his body and made pretty perfect contact. Dempsey knew just what he was doing.

Don’t be a homer when he acts out.

  13. jason says:

3-0 man. 16 min into the game.

  14. CR says:

This is hard to watch. Schwarzer looked awful on all 3 goals. Especially the last one though.

  15. CR says:

    Contact started outside

  16. chris says:

Ok but he didn’t throw a elbow that was nothing and skrtel acted

  17. Adrian says:

I could agree with that argument. It did continue into the box though and that’s why I would give the penalty. Denying a clear goal scoring opportunity as well.

Either way, it is a foul and nothing was called. Maybe the official feels bad for Fulham.

  18. Adrian says:

That is about as evident an elbow as you’ll find. He knows better than to make the full arm motion, but there’s little difference in jumping into someone with the elbow and being stationary and moving it.

  19. wildchild says:

J, smoke another J. that or watch the replay again.

  20. WeatherManNX01 says:

Could someone please put in a call to the Fulham locker room? I think the players fell asleep in there. They sure aren’t on the field…

  21. bbbiii says:

    link to game?

  22. donttreadonme says:

Wow. Just wow. If this Liverpool had been around at the beginning of the season, theres a good chance they’d be fighting for top spot if not in it. Look out next year.

  23. ChrisTheLSUTiger says:

ESPN 2. Don’t bother though, unless you’re a liverpool fan. Fulham looks like trash.

  24. aristophanes says:

I think you mean “don’t bother if you’re a Fulham fan”. So far this has been a fun spectacle for a neutral.

  25. CR says:

Demps, you’re too good to sink to petty fouls. Stop it.

  26. Adrian says:

Dempsey is just out of control sometimes.

That could have seriously injured the Liverpool youngster. He gets frustrated for losing the ball, AGAIN, and he scissors a Liverpool player from behind.

  27. nitpicker says:

“Don’t bother though, unless you are a Liverpool fan” = “don’t bother if you’re a Fulham fan”

  28. argh says:

Dempsey to score in the 2nd half. Bring on Zamora and AJ and you’ll see much better cohesion. Liverpool will probably win 5-0 though

  29. Kevin Smith says:

If this game ends 3-0, Liverpool will be 10-3-3 under King Kenny (which includes the loss to Blackpool some 5 days after he took over), with 33 goals scored and 10 against.

Using 36 games (the number most PL teams have played so far), that would project to a record of 22-7-7, for 73 points (3 less than United, but close) with 74 goals scored (1 more than best offensive team, United) and 22 goals against (8 less than best defensive team, Chelsea).

And of course, this includes great results in big games; 1-0 @ Chelsea, 3-1 vs Man Utd, 3-0 vs Man City, 1-1 @ Arsenal.

  30. Kevin Smith says:

Those are not the exact same thing, and thus you cannot use =

    It’d be like saying 2.1 = 1.9

  31. JG13 says:

PATHETIC keeping in the first half for Fulham.

Thought I might be lucky on a random day off…

  32. Isaac says:

Suarez is playing the target striker role in a unique fashion. It’s called a “false nine”. He’s starting from the lone striker position, then dropping into the midfield and drifting wide. First of all, if the defenders follow, it creates gaps in the backline for onrushing midfielders to exploit(Maxi Rodriguez). Second, it gives them more men in the midfield to pass around Fulham, which they did, and quite well. Fulham should switch to a 4-3-3 and leave Liverpool’s deepest central midfielder open so they can deal with Suarez dropping into the midfield.

  33. Isaac says:

Alexi Lalas in the stands for the Pool hahahaha.

  34. uhhhoh says:

Liverpool just too quick and too inventive and too much lead. Fulham is frustrated, but I wanna see if they can regain some composure and make it a game in the 2nd half.

  35. Isaac says:

Dempsey getting involved in build-up play very well, and the could potentially have had two goals already.

  36. Isaac says:

Excellent goal, and some good build-up play.

  37. CR says:

Salcido needs to play it simple. He’s lost the ball more then a few times going forward by trying to be cute with the ball, and it hasn’t worked for him yet. Dempsey is looking lively though, so that’s good.

  38. Adrian says:

How Fulham is playing Suarez is everything that is wrong with the EPL, with MLS, and with certain coaches like Mourihno.

At what point did it become acceptable to think “we cannot stop this certain player so we are going to cynically foul and hack them so that they are never capable of involving themselves.”

A bastardization of the spirit of the game.

  39. Isaac says:

Yeah, I think that’s a bit dissappointing. There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of the physical difference, but Fulham need to be careful. Shackling everyone with yellow cards is not the key.

  40. ChrisTheLSUTiger says:

    Semantics… sheesh.

  41. Isaac says:

Yeah, I agree. You’d think he’d do better with Dempsey coming inside and creating space on the flank for him to overlap into. Did just send in a decent cross.

  42. ChrisTheLSUTiger says:

That’s an interesting observation there. It will be neat to see how they play next year.

  43. Isaac says:

    Woooooow. GREAT striker from Maxi.

  44. ChrisTheLSUTiger says:

    What a strike. Wow.

  45. Isaac says:

That’s about it for Fulham I would say….

  46. CR says:

Wow. I’m rooting for Fulham, but wow. That was spectacular.

  47. Isaac says:

    *strike

  48. Adrian says:

Haha where did that come from?

This squad is on fire, NBA Jam style. This is ridiculous. He has two hat tricks in 3 games? Other worldly productive.

  49. Isaac says:

    Fantastic.

  50. Adrian says:

    Incredible from Suarez. Incredible.

  51. CR says:

    Well, he had it coming.

  52. Adrian says:

    Hat trick hero.

  53. Isaac says:

Tackled so bad his cleat came off? New one on me…..

  54. CR says:

Also, did Baird just say “F*** OFF” to the ref? Pretty sure he did.

  55. Mhat says:

Not a clear penalty. Argument could be made that it was but it looked to me that Suarez went down long after contact was made.

  56. CJ says:

What a cracker by Maxi…Bring that guy to MLS!

  57. Brett says:

You are allowed to extend your arms while in mid-air to balance yourself as long as your eyes are on the ball. Clint was going for the ball the whole time, and a head happened to hit his elbow. Unless you are inside Clint Dempsey’s head, you have no idea if he intended to injure. Frustration gets the best of players, but that wasn’t a flagrant elbow and he was rightfully not shown a card for it. The scissor kick on the ground however…

  58. Brett says:

Probably like 60 years ago… Fulham got what they deserved from the match, so I don’t know why you are complaining.
