New York Red Bulls fans, have no fear. Your team has a regional television deal.
The Red Bulls and MSG Networks agreed to a multi-year deal that will ensure that all non-nationally televised matches will be telecast on local stations and in high definition, the club announced on Thursday. MSG has held the broadcast rights to the Red Bulls (and MetroStars) since Major League Soccer's inaugural season and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
MSG had broadcast the team's first two matches this season "on good faith," according to the New York Post, while details of the new deal were being worked out. Steve Cangialosi and Shep Messing will continue to be the broadcast team for the telecasts.
Happy this finally got resolved? Are you a fan of MSG's Red Bulls coverage?

You gotta be kidding me! Fantastic!!!
love love love watching the RB’s in HD. Shep and Steve, whatever, I wish you could filter all announcers when watching soccer. Very distracting.
New York Cosmos to YES network in 2013!!
was really hoping for my9, but better than nothing!
HD? You must be a Cablevision subscriber.
yeah – at least every person gets channel 9 in HD…
what will they have infomercials or something??? cuz there wont be an footy being played, thats for sure.. Cosmos will not happen.
Will Steve and Shep be onsite for away games?
I was hoping for My9 too. I’m not a big fan of MSG’s production of the game at all. Oh well. It’s better than nothing I guess. Wasn’t there a story in the NY Post that Red Bulls would produce their games?
very happy. i like thier production of the game. can’t hurt to have the red bulls on the same network as the knicks and the rangers.
HD for all unless you are not a cablevision subscriber; i.e. HD for very few. A drag, since we couldnt subscribe to cablevision even if we wanted to…
Stuck with Shep for a few more years eh? Maybe I’ll apply for the position. Can’t be much worse than the current product.
Let’s hope they send them to all the away games too! That would be great!
I like the they’re doing pre and post game analysis.
Just hope the “analysis” is good and not just rehashing the same thing over and over throughout the whole show.
Nice, i forgot that RB are on MSG. The past 2 weeks with no games on ESPN has been par for the course from the world wide leader in sports.
They added pre and post game shows to the coverage, and the announcers were in Columbus last week, so I assume they will be traveling to away matches.
I do wish JP was calling the games still, though.
woo-hoo, a MULTI-year deal.
I’m happy with MSG’s coverage. They do the standard 30 minutes pre-game, 30 minute post-game. It’s top notch. MSG has a lot of experience though.
HD for some. Miniature American flags for all!
I have TimeWarner and I get it in HD? I don’t follow . . . I like Shep messing, he’s good for a handful of complete non-sequiturs each half . . . . I am a Revs fan transplanted down here and like to be able to just see the league in high def every chance possible. Look at places like DC, the only local feed for their game this weekend is Galavision I think.
P.S. those new away kits are SHARP
I love Cangialosi’s, “Shot…Goal!” routine. And Shep’s “we talked about so-and-so.” or “we talked about this” or “we talked about that.” He loves talkin’ ’bout stuff he already talked about. Awesome stuff.
This is great, but Shep is absolutely horrible. Not only does he have a limited ability to actually provide color, his knowledge and insights are severely lacking. It is a very tough listen.
We’ve got MSG in HD on Directv. Who gets locked out of HD — Verizon, other cable systems?
DirecTV subscriber with the SportsPack, located in flyover country- I assume MSG will be blacked out, but can anyone confirm?
LOL!
