Young Brazilian striker Neymar figures to have plenty of memorable games ahead of him, but none of those will be happening next month.

The 18-year-old has been left out of Brazil’s squad by coach Mano Menezes for the Selecao’s yet-to-be-announced friendlies in October. Neymar’s attitude recently caused him to be suspended and fined by his club team Santos. He reportedly cursed out his teammates and coach for not be allowed to take a penalty kick (His coach, Dorival Junior, wanted to keep him benched for longer and was promptly fired by the team).

Neymar scored a goal against the United States at the New Meadowlands Stadium in August in his first appearance with Brazil’s senior side.

Here are a few more stories to get you through your Thursday:

BECKHAM TAKES LEGAL ACTION

David Beckham is suing In Touch magazine for publishing a report that alleged he had slept with a prostitute.

The report is based off the testimony of Irma Nici, a 26-year-old woman who claims to have slept with Beckham five times in 2007.

Beckham released a statement in which it says that he not only vigorously denied the report, but he told the magazine before the story went to print that the claims were false.

HAMSIK RE-UPS WITH NAPOLI

Slovakian international Marek Hamsik has committed his future to Serie A side Napoli, signing a five-year deal that keeps him at the club through 2015.

Hamsik, a 23-year-old midfielder, was a standout performer for Slovakia during the World Cup, helping the nation reach the knockout stage.

KELLER WINS SAVE AWARD

For the second straight week and the third time this season, Kasey Keller has won Major League Soccer’s Save of the Week award.

Keller dominated the vote for his diving stop of a Guillermo Barros Schelotto shot that kept the Crew off the board in Seattle’s 4-0 victory. Keller had received the award last week for stuffing Robbie Findley’s penalty kick. He outlasted Bouna Coundoul, Eric Alexander, Matt Reis and Donovan Ricketts to win this week. Here’s video of the award-winning save:

  3. jose says:

  4. jts says:

A professional athlete (maybe) sleeping with a prostitute is news?

  5. Seth says:

Beckham is considered one of the most beautiful people in the world, and he has to pay for sex? Where does that leave the rest of us?

  6. jpc says:

Class? didn’t he already get caught banging some broad?

  7. Villain-from-Texas says:

Hamsik has certainly been a standout for Napoli. But, as several commentators pointed out during the World Cup, he was actually rather poor there.

  8. Josh D says:

    Never proven.

  9. Josh D says:

Cursing – See Davies’ recent out burst that saw him get suspended.

In the media for “hoes” – Donovan was “reported” to have hung around England’s finest when he was abroad.

Our boys get into mischief as well.

  10. k says:

Shouldn’t he be sueing the woman and not the magazine which only reported what she said?

  11. jpc says:

I know I read the article, and I also saw her picture. She looked like a porn star. Do you really think he hired her b/c she took great notes? Also, never proven? you mean there wasn’t a third party or video camera in the room watching them. Shocking. Never proven just means his wife wanted the family to stay together, so she took his word for it…

The guy was the most famous athlete on the planet. If he wasn’t doing other chicks, he’s either a saint of gay. It doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy. He’s not. But he’s got a lot of options, and he’s human.

  12. wally says:

if he did pay for it, he was probably paying for the confidentiality, whatever good that did him..

  13. e says:

The magazine has deeper pockets, man. Besides, by publishing her words, the magazine is defacing Beckham’s name across the country a lot more than the prostitute could ever do.

  14. David Drake says:

Maybe he should sue her for breach of contract?

Just kidding. I don’t think the story is true.

  15. Igor says:

And he stayed there. VC won 1-0.

  16. bryan says:

he could probably do both. slader against him by her, and libel against him by the magazine.

  17. bryan says:

    *slander

  18. My favorite part of the story is how she claims he pleasured himself in the bathroom with the lotion provided by the hotel. But giving Becks a 7.5/10 rating is just mean-spirited. I hope team GoldenBalls gives her a good run through.

  19. bryan says:

and since the lotion was scented, it “started burning him!” i lost it when i read that.

  20. Brian S. says:

It actually was proven. He admitted to sleeping with Elizabeth Loos. Quite a few times actually
