La Liga and Serie A are back in action this weekend to give us a full complement of European matches on a packed menu of weekend soccer action on TV.

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will both be on TV this weekend as we get to see how much better the Spanish powers have gotten this off-season. In Italy, AC Milan and Juventus are two of the teams who will begin their chase of defending champions Inter Milan.

In England, American goalkeepers Brad Friedel and Tim Howard renew their rivalry as Aston Villa faces Everton, while Jermaine Jones and Schalke will meet Steve Cherundolo and Hannover 96 in German Bundesliga action.

In MLS, Freddie Ljungberg's return to Qwest Field for the first time since being traded to Chicago will make for great drama, while the New York-San Jose match features two teams coming off impressive victories.

As usual, great summary. Thank you!

  2. jensph says:

Don’t see this one on Saturday in my guide:
10:30pm- ESPN- Seattle Sounders vs. Chicago Fire

    Is that ESPN3?

  3. vic says:

So did ESPN renew to have La Liga this year or are they back on GOLTV excusively? I see one game on ESPN Deportes this weekend.

  4. Frank says:

Sunday 11am -GolTV- St. Pauli vs. 1899 Hoffenheim

  5. Second City says:

I believe in the following weeks, since the season hasn’t begun, you’ll see some La I
Liga matches pop up. However, ESPN is notorious for failing to updating their listings for European soccer matches.

    makes dvr utilization difficult.

  6. Racing Santander vs. Barcelona is on ESPN Deportes, not GolTV

  7. Andy says:

9am- Fox Soccer Channel- Blackpool vs. Fulham is delayed (game is actually 10am Eastern on Saturday)

  8. Brian S. says:

I love the fact that we’ve reached a point in this country that we have such a plethra of choices when it comes to what game we want to watch. It wasn’t all that long ago when the only game you would see was the occasional delayed EPL game on Fox Sports Channel at some obscure hour. This is awesome!

  9. Dan says:

As usual Ives, if you’re an American and you care about soccer/football, you go to this website. Fine, fine work.

  10. Manuel says:

And also if you’re Mexican living in the US!

    Thank Ives!

  11. RedStateJim says:

    Agreed

  12. mcjones says:

    ….what?

  13. Raul says:

I’m relatively new to this site so forgive me if I break a rule or two but what sites do you guys use to catch games online? If its against the rules to ask then just ignore/delete this comment.

  14. Aden says:

    atdhe.net

That is your goldmine for online links.

Also, try Justin.tv or Veetle.com if you cannot find anything on the first.

  15. Raul says:

thanks. now i have to decide if arsenal vs blackburn is worth getting up so early…

  16. AQK says:

    it’s ESPN2

  17. AQK says:

another good one that collects a variety of streams of varying quality/formats/languages (although they don’t really pick up MLS games) is myp2p.eu

  18. DaveW says:

One correction, Telemundo does not have Monterrey-Jaguares 8pm EST Saturday, their game will be Chivas-Pumas. I believe Telemundo has a deal with Chivas for their home games.

Monterrey couldn’t agree on a deal to have their home games broadcast on TV, so they are broadcasting on the internet. Don’t know if it’s free, or what the situation is with their away games.

  19. Citronomics says:

Arsenal v. Blackburn definitely worth getting up for. Great pace, testy in midflield and competitive.

  20. Mig22 says:

This has been a spicy game.

  21. Mig22 says:

Such good announcers on ESPN3’s coverage of Schalke-Hanover.

    ‘Dolo vs Jones. Good stuff.

  22. jackson says:

Anyone have a listing for ESPN/2/3 or Deportes coverage of the Chicago/Seattle game? Can’t find it anywhere.

  23. Bubba says:

Ives, one listing that caught my eye was “Noon- DirecTV- Hercules vs. Athletic Bilbao”. Any idea which DirecTv channel this is? Is DTV offering additional coverage?

(SBI-DirecTV shows La Liga games, a few each weekend. I believe the games are shown on channels in the 460s. This isn’t new. They did the same thing last year. It usually games featuring the non-glamour teams.)

  24. ElHierro says:

10:30pm- ESPN- Seattle Sounders vs. Chicago Fire ????

  25. JReid says:

As of right now I can find anything, anywhere (other than here) stating this game is on ESPN. Not on ESPN’s site, not on the Fire’s website, not on Seattle’s site, not on the League’s website. So I won’t hold my breath.

  26. AQK says:

also falso was the GOLTV listing…it wasnt barca, it was freaking Valencia – Mallorca.
