Salvadorian International Osael Romero earned the first goal of his fledgling MLS career, but it was not enough to snap Chivas USA's losing streak which was extended to six games as the Rojiblancos fell to FC Dallas 2-1 on Saturday night.

David Ferreira provided the spark for FC Dallas scoring a goal and setting up another for just their second road win of the year. The victory also extended the club's unbeaten streak to three games.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 44th minute of play. Off a David Ferreira cross, the ball careened off of Brek Shea's boot and then deflected off Ante Jazic for an own goal. The goal immediately put Chivas on their heels to start the second half and forced them to come out strong out of the gate. Unfortunately for Jazic, things would go from bad to worse.

Dallas put the game out of reach when in the 61st minute, Atiba Harris delivered a pass to Martin Chavez in the box.Chavez was clipped by Jazic, who was playing in his first game since April gave FC Dallas a chance from the penalty spot. The foul may have been a tad generous, but David Ferreira calmly buried it into the back of Thornton's net to make the score 2-1. A lead that FC Dallas would not relinquish.

Chivas USA may have lost its sixth straight, but there were signs of encouragement from their Salvadorian international. Romero playing in the spot vacated by the departed Sacha Kljestan was active throughout the night and in the 58th minute was finally rewarded. Defender Mariano Trujillo fired in a cross that Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman was unable to make a play on allowing Romero to head the ball into the back of the net. The goal gave Chivas USA a tie that would be surrendered only moments later.

With the loss, Chivas USA now falls to 3-9-1 on the season which puts them in last place in the Western Conference. While the victory for Dallas places the club at 4-2-6 which is good for the fifth spot in the West.

no England / Germany world cup running commentary??!?

  2. Josh D. says:

Brek Shea is still impressing – let’s see him come the usual summer MLS national team friendlies!

  3. Joe says:

FC Dallas is in 4th in the West. Tied with San Jose with 18 points over 12 games, but they won the head to head and have a +3 GD to San Jose’s +1.

Also the penalty was clear – Jazic shoved Chavez in the back.

It’s good to see Osael Romero step up and put his mark in the game. On previous occasions he has seemed pretty much invisible. Lets hope he can improve on Saturday’s performance. He will have to carry the midfield now that Klejstan is gone.

Nicely done FCD. Getting back in the playoff mix. We need more of this.

What’s up with the kits? Why no all blue? – Those are dope. They were the home team, shouldn’t they have to change? Those shorts are from last season … odd.

Good work boys on the 3 points!
