great to see Ricardo Clark starting again.
There’s no way ESPN would’ve taken Birmingham v. Burnley if they had any choice in the matter, would they? Do they just get the early game no matter what it is?
Hopefully he’s done enough in training for them to pick up the option on his contract
yah
Today brought to you by the letter B, obviously. Why? Bolton brings back their badddass! (here’s hoping).
Joe Hart could very well be the netminder for the 3 Lions vs US. Have a good look.
Yea or nay…We have 3 keepers, at least, who could easily suit of for the ENG NATS, Howard, Friedel, Hahnemann. Am I missing anyone else??
guzan… hell england is so bad at keeper they would probably enjoy a little bouna time
Wow, Dolo’s Hannover is up 3-0 against MB’s Gladbach 30 minutes in.
Holden isn’t dressed for Bolton…my hopes feel seriously dashed. Hope that he’s in the team next week.
4-0 Hannover, still 1st half.
anybody else having trouble with the usual streams?
Yes. I’m using iraqgoals. Any other sites that are better?
HA HA HA! OH, how could anyone disagree with that. Yeah, Guzan and Kasey Keller could probably hold it down for the English, shoot, Calamity James was their #1…it’s a carousel of keepers over there.
the US is insanely deep…but Hart is NASTY. I don’t know if he is better than our guys, but I would much rather prefer that they have David James in net.
man, Aston Villa is really frustrating to watch today. They have the lead but are not showing any confidence. Ashley Young is the only player showing a sense of urgency. City’s keeper is looking really shaky. they need to get some pressure on him.
WIll Oguchi Onyewu play this season?
Yea Gooch will play in the WC, but Not for AC Milan
Doubt it. Didn’t really think so when he was fit in the beginning of the season.
Edu starts for Rangers. DMV off the bench for an injured player.
*DMB
They’re probably taking a note out of Jose Mourinho’s book and absorbing pressure while picking appropriate times to get forward. You can’t blame them for sitting back, because with guys like Tevez and Bellamy in City’s attack, they could easily get caught on the counter.
Villa nearly get a second with a James Milner shot skipping just wide. Deemed to have taken a deflection. Corner.
Penalty. Tevez to take…Gets it!
1-1 in the 41st.
Villa nearly take back the lead on a great shot by I believe it’s Carew.
friedel knew where it was going but couldn’t back it up with a save. Tough. 2 up now City…
and JUST like that it’s Adebayor with another goal for City! 2-1! Vieira finds Johnson on the left side of the 6. Johnson faked his man, and found Adebayor sitting in front of the 6 yard box. Easy for the Togo international
Now I’m sure Oguchi Onyewu won’t be playing for AC Milan as they aim to secure Champions League Qualifications.
Quick turnaround for City.
Hannover now 5-0 over ‘Gladbach.
The Villa LB disintegrates and gives City two easy chances.
UTAKA just scored against Wolves? Made me want to barf. He should’ve been sold a long time ago.
Michael Bradley and ‘Gladbach are doing Steve Cherundolo and Hannover a major favor. This win would put them 4th from the bottom!
How is Beasley playing?
nobody wants to pay his 80,000/week wage
Anybody know any good places to get a Rangers-Dundee link?
Thankfully. Hannover’s had a rough season. Though they’ll probably need at least a tie next week to stay up. .
two of the boys doing a favor for each other. i like it. Dolo just needs to let MB score a couple times and its a good trade.
MB scoring would be good, but Hannover might have to worry about goal differential. As it is ‘Gladbach just scored, 5-1.
6-1 now. They gave up 10 with no goals in their last 2 games and now…
Feilhaber starts for Aarhus. Boy, there’s a team that needs a win.
Doesn’t it seem like USMNT fans cared a lot more about Feilhaber before Holden went to Bolton?
Hoffenheim are now level with Frankfurt, with 10 min left.
Fair point. I think it’s because Feilhaber was getting European development and Holden wasn’t. Now that Holden is in one of the best leagues in the world, he’ll be very well developed.
Ashley young cross nearly goes in. Corner. It’s cleared.
Apparently Clark’s been doing well. Was just reading the ticker off of Bild.
*60,000
City’s keeper look VERY shaky…Villa just needs to put pressure on that guy and the second (and third) will come. Honestly though, they are looking like an Europa cup side much more than a CL side.
Hannover wins 6-1 over ‘Gladbach
What happened there? I’m happy that Hannover’s out of the drop, at least for now. But how do you go from drawing Bayern to losing 6-1 to Hannover?
Friedel with a great save on a Bellamy curler
Same as Hannover wins 4-2 over Schalke and then lose 7-0 the next week to Bayern.
Hannover really need to win and were playing at home. They’ll need at least a tie next week to stay out of the bottom 2.
Rico’s Eintracht Frankfurt give up 2 in the last 10 and lose 2-1.
Cuellar has been a certified beast on Villa’s backline. Saved their *ss a few times today.
…This just in…
Brad Friedel is a good keeper.
Wright-Phillips sets up Bellamy for what should be the dagger. City 3-1.
D’ohh… great run by Richards to find Bellamy and from that range… not much Friedel could do on the curler. This mean CL for Man City?
I think they have to keep on winning and hope Tott. lose.
It’s nice to have Edu and Clark both getting playing time for their respective clubs.
It comes down to Wednesday
Man City v. Tottenham
City must win to overtake Spurs heading to the final weekend.
City and Tottenham play next weekend in the last game of the season…..if they tie, tottenham gets fourth. but, whoever wins gets it
CMON CITEH
hopefully city lose so then tottenham can show money isnt everything. on the other hand if man city win it made be a little bit more “fair” transfer market if u catch my drift.
+2
I can see it now..vs. England:
LD – Edu – MB – Clark – Deuce
——–Jozy—————-
LOL!
Who would get the ball past the midfield stripe?
Although MB in an advanced CM role could be interesting.
7,000+ Roma fans @ Parma … come onnnnn!!!
I can never understand how so many top players are in Italy. Whenever I watch games on TV, there are so many empty seats. How do Italian teams afford even mediocre players much less the number of real quality players that play in Serie A?
I think you misunderstood what he was saying.
I think he was commenting on the massive number of away fans.
Fans are always getting banned for one reason or another in at least one stadium. Juve had that done to them a couple of times this season I believe. Still, who knows?
Pretty good weekend for the national team. Lots of guys getting playing time. Bradley, Clark, Edu, Cherundolo and Beasley.
And soccernet reporting 4-1 W for Aarhus. Anyone hear how Benny did?
He is better than an US striker and he isnt one.
2-0 Roma! Totti cross to Taddei’s head…
Forza…Laz…Laz… come on, say it .. Laz…Lazio!
I mean, I’m not saying that they should both be starting, but if it had to come to that, It’s not a half bad option. As far as who gets the ball into the attack, the USA didn’t have an extremely creative force against Spain and they had chances. Not a lot, but enough to say that Bradley and Clark did their job. The point was to stop Spain from working right up the middle and force their players to other look out wide or dribble out wide. Bocanegra and Spector don’t have the pace to stop them, but with Onyewu, DeMerit and Howard right behind them to help put out fires, it was the least vicious attack.
Of course that’s all a pretty moot point because Bradley seems to like the 4-4-2 and I’d say for good reason. It keeps constant pressure on the opposition’s backline, so if wing backs like Sergio Ramos, Capdevilla, Dani Alves, and Andre Santos get forward, it means space for the USA’s two strikers to move into. The first goal against Spain is a pretty good example of that. Bradley gets a beautiful pass to Davies, who is wide left to take the space Sergio Ramos left. Davies brings that pass down for Dempsey and the rest is US Soccer history.
Just watched the taped broadcast of Portsmouth and Wolves, and James was excellent today (and he’s been excellent the last few weeks for Portsmouth). He’s certainly known for the occasional disastrous error, but when he’s good, he’s really, really good. As for Marcus, no major errors, but his reactions looked a bit slow for the 2nd and 3rd goals.
Is Gooch even on the bench for Milan tonight?
nope. the youngster albertazzi got the spot on the bench. disappointing. can’t wait for him to get outta milan
spurs are a bunch of scrubs…. Tevez will take Dawson and king to school on Wednesday. If money isn’t everything then there would be no world football…. Atleast we have a future, spurs will be mediocre again next season
Well, I personally believe Leo is dumb and its not b/c of gooch. However, I think gooch is most likely not 100 percent yet, that is probably why he didnt make it
Soccer fans in Italy are know to be some of the worst in terms of racism and thuggery.
Bayern looks very sharp
won’t matter if they have Sir Alex wearing the gloves in SA if we don’t take our chances well.
i still don’t see how this was in any way good move for him.
